Seriously believe Allen is the answer

The more i read into Dennis Allen's stats since taking over as Defensive Coordinator and what his role was while Rob was in charge, the more I'm buying into him. Before taking over, he was in charge of third down defense, which the Saints ranked 6th. Since taking over he 3-3 and went back to fundamentals. The numbers weren't the prettiest but he took over a mess of defense. A full offseason with him controlling the defense, i believe, will allow Allen to get the players he wants and develop the players he has into his scheme and bring the defense into the top 15 overall. Maybe i'm drinking the koolaid but i like to think i'm not

I honestly like him as well. A lot of people overlook the actual defensive roster and just think a coach can do it all. I liked what I saw from him and am more than willing to see what he can do this year.

Saints seriously need to get him another edge rusher to compliment Jordan. Denever showed if you have pass rushers, you can disrupt the likes of Cam and Brady

While any pass rushing tandem would pay immediate dividends...Demarcus Ware's and Von Miller's don't just grow on trees

I think Samoa boy could be an elite pass rusher if they work a little bit more on his technique. I went to the thursday night game against ATL this year and every play I'd watch him dominate Jake Matthews and disrupt the whole Falcons offense. Consistency is key for him.

Kikaha is a nonstop motor guy...as a 3rd/4th rusher I think he could be phenomenal. Improving DE and the other OLB will be key. He seems like a guy who can win consistently if the team is focused on other players.

The whole D-line, to me, is a very underrated group. I think one more edge rusher and one more interior man could make this a terrific group

For the umpteenth time, this is Jeff Ireland job. Not Dennis Allen. And he's already doing a great job.

Game plan? Great.
I'm glad Ryan is gone, but i really was hoping we'd bring in fresh blood and let him pick his own staff.
We got another member of Paytons crossfit mafia. Hopefully he proves me wrong.

I'm optimistic too, but this whole conversation feels eerily familiar

You mean, like every off-season?

That's half of the line.

Like your optimism.
Me? I will wait and see as I think its one of two things:
We have as most teams do fairly good players and athletes who are not as bad as our stats show. We just need a better scheme that simplifies and lets the players react and play instead of thinking to much and playing slow.
or
We are so dreadfully weak up and down the roster on the defensive side of the ball that God himself could hardly improve it without first getting better players.

I hope so, but I don't have a clue. No expectations. Hopefully we can at least get some talent in the draft is where I'm at.

The Saints can't afford to miss on the top picks in this draft. We need a Defensive difference maker, no projects please. Let's address need first unless we get a trade offer we can't refuse.
Needs first unless BPA is just too good.
No Damn projects in top 3 picks
(In my Will Ferrell "Ma meatloaf" voice!)

I don't like him solely b/c he is a 4-3 guy and our personnel we drafted last year is for the 3-4

FA is much richer on our defensive needs than offensive needs. I would still like to draft on the d-line with the first pick, but I could see us going after a few defensive targets. which would normally scare me given our track record, but hopefully ireland knows wtf he is doing.

we still have vitt and the other knucklehead though.
