It might take time, as it did with Dallas, but there is no denying just how damn good their Oline is.

We are set at LT with an up and coming player in Armstead, but our Guards are beyond their prime or perpetually injured. 2 Guards and Center, make it happen Loomis.

See Dallas: run game doesn't work, still sticks to the run.

See Seattle: run game doesn't work, abandons the run.

Who wins?

Dallas.

Tyron Smith - 2011 1st rounder
Ronald Leary - 2012 UDFA
Travis Frederick - 2013 1st rounder
Zack Martin - 2014 1st rounder
Doug Free - 2007 4th rounder

Reality is, they built that interior in 2 years (considering Leary has only started playing last year). We already have a solid RT in Strief and a future LT in Armstead.

We will the next couple of drafts/FA periods. We have our LT of the future, a good RT, and two very good but aging guards.

Everyone would complain and say invest wide receivers and if we did that everyone would complain and say invest in linebackers so on and so forth

Our team needs oline help. Yes.

Majority of our needs are on defense though. Can't get off the field on 3rd and long. We can score, just have to stop the opposing team from catching up to our score. Which seems to be a problem.

At this point, it isn't even "Invest in the OL" since its middle of the season, we can't.

What we can do is pound the damn ball, and keep pounding.

Seattle came in as the #1 ranked run defense, allowing only some unrealistic 2.7ypc. At some point in the 4th quarter, Murray was 20 carries for 60 yards. Tied 20-20, they STILL ran it.

That is how you play balanced football. It isn't like Romo's stat line is horrible either because his numbers are still solid. 250 yards, 2 TDs (65.6% completion; 7.5y/a)

LT is potentially the hardest to find a good one.
We did well there.

Cooks was and is still the right choice through 5 games.

If we sat at 27, the only available CB was Roby.

We went for SJB in the 2nd round and signed Bailey, so we attempted to fix Greer being gone. No one expected those two to underperform this much though.

Not gonna deny this, but Cooks isn't one of them. He'll be a key weapon for years to come in this offense.

Those saying draft LB's and Secondary it won't matter so long as our current staff is still in place. I really like Vitt, as he entertained me when Payton was suspended, but we haven't had one single LB pan out under his tutelage. Our Secondary has been shite for the most part since Dennis Allen left.

If the OL run blocks better than they pass block (which is the case for us), then just run the ball.

Why is Drew dropping back to pass 40 times a game?

went to school with him, it's crazy to see him excel in the nfl because he had just started playing football like in his jr year

Happy for him though, he's a very humble dude

I wonder how much of our woes are coaching. De La Puente doing pretty well, Bushrod is doing better in Chicago than he did here. Hope they figure it out, we have a lot of suckage on the line and its hard to figure out.

I said the other day, its our coaching staff. Payton needs to cut ties with buddies and hire some real coaching talent. Period.

It will take time, no question. A good team is built from the inside out. Payton has ignored both lines for too long and we are paying the price since 2011. At least in 2011 we had a beast of an o-line, that allowed us to outscore most anyone we faced.
