Mark Ingram leads the NFL in rushing the rest of the way

It's no coincidence that the Saints' best performance of the season came when they finally saddled up Ingram and allowed him to do what he's been doing since last December -- tearing through defenses. Going back to Week 15 of last season, Ingram is averaging an eye-popping 5.7 yards per carry. He forced twice as many missed tackles of any NFL running back in Week 8. He leads all starters in yards after contact per attempt, according to Pro Football Focus. Ingram's game film has been among the most impressive in the league going back to the preseason. He's a legitimate stud. After Sunday's dominance, coach Sean Payton can no longer deny that he has been holding back one of the league's premier runners. -- Chris Wesseling.

Pretty bold.... even if we run him hard I don't think he rushes for more than a healthy Murray.

so they are saying from week 9 and on? because theres a 0% chance he leads overall.

no way he overtakes murray anyway. he could probably crack the top 5

I mean honestly, he really has been.

At this point it's time to roll with Ingram full time, Thomas as change of pace, and Robinson for late in games. I've had just about enough of RBBC honestly.

Doesn't surprise me they said that considering he just played on the NFL Network. They're definitely trying to sell high on him

Doubtful given the return of Thomas and Robinson

Wesseling has been hailing Ingram as our savior since early offseason. Looks like he wasn't too off the mark. He picked us for the SB too

He might not get more than 15 carries a game the rest of the year with everyone healthy in our backfield

Why is it that no one realizes the 100% obvious truth? Ingram is only playing hard because it is a contract year, period. He will resume mediocrity, probably get bit by the nagging injury bug next season wherever he plays. Fact.

I don't know those facts like you know those facts.

What my eyes say is that MI is running well since the last half of last year and this year as well and he is our best pure RB so far this year. How CSP uses him here on out or where he wants to go next year who the hell knows as "facts".

All I hope for is that CSP when the situation is there run the dawg sh!t out of him and we can worry about next year...next year.

Oh and 1st place on a 2 game win streak f@ck all you CSP, MI, JG, Brees and the season is done F'ers.

with Romo possibly hurt, opposing teams KNOW they will lean on Murray and will stack the box... he won't be rushing for 100 yards like he was before Romo's injury....

I'm excited as hell that he's producing. I hope we continue to use him this season.
I just hope we don't give him a big contract to stay after this season.
If he resigns with us for reasonable price or is franchised, fine.
It's human nature that he's giving extra effort this year in his contract audition.

I even heard an interview on the radio a while back of him pretty much saying it. He said something along the lines of "this season was an important year for him and his camp and that he needed to do well because they were in a contract year"
And the reporter kept badgering him saying things like "so Mark, are you saying that you are trying harder this year than you would on a non contract year?"
He crawfished out.

Also, see 2 years ago when Chris Ivory started getting playing time lighting it up. Threatened by losing touches, Ingram started giving above average effort and running better all of a sudden.

Guy onlly plays hard when he has to it seems. I'm loving him lately, but I'm skeptical hippo of him maintaining effort and healthiness after securing a contract.

I think 99% of Saints fans would be shocked if he got a big long term deal.
Most of us I think believe he can make more bank somewhere else.
I'm on record for the last two years that he will be elsewhere in 2015.

I thought so too but not I'm not sure what'll happen if he lights it up all year...

I don't care. Let him run hard because its a contract year. Hopefully it helps us get to the superbowl. One big season from him that earns us a ship would make him worth all the investment we've already made in him.

I hear you on the injuries, but can you really say CSP didn't hold him back? There is no doubt the RBBC has held him back. MI is a player that needs the ball more than 1 or 2 times in a row and then go sit down. This is play calling and CSP calls the plays. Payton has held him back. And it wasn't wrong in some cases as we know PT is a stud. At this point though, let MI run the damn bball. When PT comes back, involve him of course, but why sit a horse out there running hard for you and gaining yards?

Coincidence? Armstead has been starting at tackle since he started this run! Give the O-line it's due!
