While the Saints will absolutely give Hill a chance to start next season if Brees retires' the same can be said about Jameis Winston. During his appearance on the huddle& flow podcast , Payton said he's going to have that opportunity to start in New Orleans the minute Drew leaves.

I would also gather from this that this is likely Brees' curtain call.

Brees almost retired this offseason so I would be shocked if he came back. I’d love for him to go out on top.

It’s not telling at all. It’s an open competition and that’s the way it should be

He isn't signed for next year though, right?

Jameis will win that with ease.

Only way I see Brees coming back is if he absolutely lights it up through the playoffs.

Payton said next years starter is likely in the house. He promised Hill when he resigned that he would have the first shot ant number 2

Coachspeak for “Keep the fumbling up and see what happens Taysom, there is another guy in line that can jump rite into my offense and win 8 of 9 games without Drew”

We could have had 2 or 3 season with the GOAT Tommy Brady and would have seen 0 “Say Her Name” or “Jacob Blake” messaging on our QB to boot

Part of me wants Brees to come back if Brady retires, so Brees can reclaim all of the all-time records

IDK. These brink of retirement guys always feel bad at season's end and then mid-offseason when their body stops hurting and they have a little energy, they feel like they can go again. They end up convincing themselves they can go one more time.

Yea but Drew actually signed a deal with NBC. It’s clear he’s thinking about moving on.

they arent resigning winston

he is too stupid to learn and remember the play book or he would be already starting

several teams have already expressed interest in talking to winston after this season and the saints would have to outbid other teams to keep a QB who hasnt learned the play book after being here all year
