Doesn't work like that for players. (95% sure)

Do you really need a source for that? When his contract runs out, he’s free to do what he wants. That’s why it’s a contract
There may be language in the contract preventing that from happening because he’s in breach of it right now (do we know for sure he filed retirement paperwork? Does that toll the running of the contact period?). These are legal questions and not as simple as you’re making it out to be

Pat Mcafee had an opportunity during the covid year to punt for Tampa Bay. Phone calls were made, he went through covid testing etc, but it was ultimately called off. The owner of the Colts came on to the show a few weeks later and let Pat know he still had 2 years on his contract with the Colts, so if he wanted to play for Tampa Bay, they would have had to trade his rights to Tampa.

How many first round picks is Payton worth?
I’m good with one.
I’m good with one.

i wouldn't doubt its different for coaches but i dont' know either way. its so shitty how its different for coaches than players.

I’d like to see for myself where someone with any level of knowledge on it, even a journalist, stated it to be the case. So far it’s a bunch of Kenna brahs telling us what they think

Just my .02 brotha - I really don't think that Gruden-type compensation will ever happen again, just like I don't think that we'll ever see a Hershel Walker type of trade again.
If we have his rights thru 24, that is 2 years from now... this season, and next. So in reality, it would only be 1 additional year to wait for ZERO compensation.
Remember, any draft picks given up are ones that he no longer has as coach. Also, by waiting, Jerry doesn't have as much of a PR issue if he fires McCarthy after year 3 instead.
So yeah, I dont think we're going to be getting a 1st much less 2 of them...just my thoughts.
Also,
bit of a stretch...he hasnt really done anything of substance yet.

Have you see his Cowerd interview? Because that one is brining in rave reviews.

Meh. It’s cool to have his perspective on things but we’ve heard the Mahomes story a million times. He looked bad in studio pregame

One of the top 5 coaches consistently for the last nearly 20 years and you want to take anything less than a 1st. Absolutely not, look at what teams have gotten for lesser coaches before

Use Google if you don’t believe it ffs

Most situations of coaches being traded are not like this. The saints don’t have as much leverage as some of our fans think. If a team is desperate at the end of this year then maybe they pay more. But the reality is that these teams could just keep their coach until he’s free.

There was lots of speculation based off our monster eagles trade that trying to acquire a future 1st and a 2nd would establish the rough parameters of what we'd like to get back.

So you don’t have a source either, correct?
Posted on 9/14/22 at 2:22 pm to Proximo
I’m not claiming to have a source. I watched Adam Schefter talk about this when he originally announced his retirement. So I know that the contract doesn’t stop just because he’s retired. You are the one who keeps asking for a source instead of just using Google.

There are many things Sean Payton could do this year; coaching an NFL team is unlikely to be one. He remains under contract to New Orleans for three more seasons. He wants some time to decompress, and the Saints would want compensation if they ever were to relinquish his rights.

so tigersquad doesn’t know what he’s talking about either
at the end of the day, does Payton want to risk sitting out the game for 3 full years. that's a long time. If he doesn't, the bidding starts with a 1st no matter what.

Holy shite. You realize it was a 30 minute interview where he talked about Mahomes for maybe 4 mins.
