Also I look at it more of a 10 mil a year to even out the money
They didn't give him 16 mil, they had to counter the fact that he could only make 4.5 in the first year
Is he really worth 16 mil
No, but is he probably worth 10?
Yes I think he is
Dude can get you 1 or 2 touchdowns a game

Is he really the 6th best weapon
Put the ball in his hands and he will score
I think Payton is going to scheme him up alot more plays this year
Lester, they value the fook out of taysom
You will see it this year and next

That’s an irresponsible way to hand out contracts Chad
Irresponsible to give our future QB a 16 mill 1 yr prove it/ tryout extension?

Chad, $16mil makes him the 18th highest paid QB in the league lol
He’s thrown 13 passes at 46%
What the frick are we even talking about right now

Considering there’s a lot of rookie qb’s starting.
Either way this proves my point they are paying Taysom low tier starting monies to prove himself post Drew Brees.
Saints fans continue to swim in denial of what Taysom is to our franchise.

There’s no way you really believe that hoss

Murray and probably even cook

you still have to take Brees out the game for most of his touches
Lie detector determined that is a lie. He only took 36 snaps at QB.
81% of his offense snaps last season came at WR/RB/TE. Forget that he’s even a QB. Pretend he’s a guy who can play all over the formation, our Kyle Juscyck kinda guy. And break in case of emergency QB

And don't look at it like that
Look at it like the other team has to account for him
So with your thinking, the other team has to account for our 6th best player that can take it to the house with 4.4 speed

So back to his contract
Why pay him like a backup QB or worry about what it might cost to franchise him as a QB?
$4.6mil is extremely fair for what he is

And 16.3 will be a bargain for what he’ll be in 2021.

Murray had 179 touches last year
Cook dealt with injuries & was barely involved early on and still touched the ball at a higher average

For what he does 8 mil for two years guaranteed each is a lot.
Do they want to expand his wildcat role? Alot.
Show him off this year and patriot his arse for a high pick during or next year?
Do they think he can really compete for the 2nd qb?
Why did the FO jump back in to get a Taysom lite?

1. Who said he’s paid like any kind of QB? Sounds like that’s on you
2. The franchise tag thing isn’t a huge issue regardless, but he’s likely still classified as a QB under the tag if it came to it
Fair for what he was. You dont know what the plans are going forward, everything has changed. If he only touches the ball 50 times a year than it’s a shitty deal. If his role increases it probably pays off

I think the elephant in the room is that the Saints have a plan for him and we just don't know what it is yet.

how do you pay him for what he might be

he was a restricted free agent. That favors the team and they should take advantage of that. His value is what the market says it is.

So players are paid after they perform?
