Sean Payton has said repeatedly that Drew Brees' successor is "in the building." He didn't mean Teddy then, and he doesn't mean Jameis now. Obviously if Hill falls on his face and fails as the starter in 2021 or whenever, the club will have to go to Plan B.

Don't kid yourself. That contract extension wasn't for his gadget role. It was to lock him up as the long-term starting QB and reward him for being a team guy in the process.

i think there is a combination of liking taysum as a person (by both the media and org) and a desire to keep him as a non-QB asset (either on the field or in a trade next year). a believe that he can be an elite starting NFL QB is just insane. there is no metric or stat that indicates anything other than a gadget role is suitable for him

i was joking about our investment in backup QB for 2020 but i have said many times i care about how this impacts our 2021 cap
