How much longer do the saints have to carry that deadweight named thomas, can they get rid of his sorry arse after this season is over? I would hate to retain him, only for him to play next season get a catch, flex, and pull a season ending bicep.

Would you trade for Thomas if you were another team?

i think they are still paying for brees and a few others that are already gone before we even address the MT deal

at this point you have to pay him whether he plays or not so cutting or trading him only saves you around $12m and we still have to pay him around $20m

as mentioned by others, its a very bad deal we have no real way to get out of

PS - numbers are just guestimates because i dont care enough to look up the exact numbers

MT will be Jun 1st cut at 11.5 dead money. Saints should let new coach make those decisions.

Agree with this. Probably the best we can hope for is O-Lav continues his upward trajectory we pick up a quality prospect in the draft and hope MT can give effort in as many game as possible till he can be traded or let go.

Obviously the dream scenario would be for MT t0 regain his form from his first few season but I think we can all agree that isn’t happening. So.

Correct on June 1, but may as well let DA flop with a cap stricken roster in 23. Suck get a very early pick for Caleb Williams. Saints can be an attractive job and hire a solid HC with Williams as a possibility. Not getting a good hire at HC with situation we’re in for next year.

Honestly, might as well keep him one more year since it’s not that beneficial to get rid of him just yet. By June if 2024, the csp penalties shouldn’t be that bad.

The vast majority of this board, me not included, Payton will come back and trade down for a defensive player and a 2nd round pick, draft a quarterback that won't see any playing time in the 3rd and we will be in the same spot with a first round defensive pick on IR and a quarterback we will cut after year one

Would have to cut Jordan, AK, Thomas, Pete and take on massive dead money for this to work. However how long would recovery be?

One question I had all off-season. Why TF didn’t Saints go after Doug Peterson. Louisiana guy. Look how much better Jags are.

Need new coach. I honestly think Frank Reich(sp) would be awesome. He was coaching for a crazy owner. He is a good coach and former QB
