Taysom Hill touches: 2022: 105 and 2023: 114 and that's not even getting into his touches as a QB and pass attempts.

Deebo Samuel 2022: 98 touches and 2023: 97 touches

you're a joke.

You are a tard.
83 yards passing
400 rushing
291 recv

What does he earn per year? Do we owe him 16 mil 2024?

Way to move the goal posts and bring up a random player no one mentioned

CMac who costs less on the cap and makes only 1.5M or so more than Hill had 339 and 329 touches the last 2 seasons.

So do tell how you man crush is more than a part time gimmick?

But CMac and Hill aren't comparable. Honestly, to Chad's point, Samuel is, IMO.

I realize the point is that Hill doesn't make much less/has a bigger cap hit, but I think you'd be pretty surprised to see some cap hits from Saints players vs. better players in the league.

ETA: Derek Carr - 55Mil cap hit for 2024, currently (which is why he will be extended ) Pat Mahomes - 58Mi.

ETA2: CMac - 14.1Mil AK41 - 18.7 Mil

Just saying, we can do this with the whole roster almost. Its the way the Saints do business with the cap. Comparing players cap hits is futile.

Of course not, yet they hit the cap and are paid pretty close to the same amount. That’s insane how can anyone defend that type of salary and cap management?

Samuel is, IMO.

He’s a starting WR, using “touches” to compare a WR to a player that’s primarily lines up under center is stupid. Look at snaps (ie when they are on the field) and targets (how often passes are thrown to them) to see who I used more. Samuel had 679 snaps Hill 410 last year

Carr and Mahomes are both starting QBs. Their caps will vary depending on which year of the contract it is. It’s not about comparing quality vs salary. The whole point is the Saints cap hit for a part time gimmick player is slightly more than the top RB in the league. That’s just asinine

Honestly, Its all stupid. Worrying about the cap, kicking the can, comparing cap numbers, salaries, trying to guess what each team values in a player.....none of it is comparable.

How is it stupid to point out a team that has a mediocre and aging roster has very little flexibility to improve the roster because of the way they handle the cap?

comparing cap numbers,

Just pointing out a ridiculous cap hit to show how poorly they are managing the cap.

Talking about it, I guess is not. I tend to learn things when reading stuff on here. Getting into it with Chad tends to derail discussions though.

Poorly by who's definition? They obviously don't think that. We do, but none of us, to my knowledge, have ever ran a team to know for sure. Not to mention we are only looking at number that a website wants to report. I'm sure its more nuanced than just a raw number. It makes a discussion, but it really means nothing.

It was just a list of stupid things to worry about.

For many of our fans, the day we get compliant with cap compliance is the happiest day of the year for them as a Saints fan.
