And Carr and his agent have not figured that out? Come on, he has a full no-trade. There is no reason to negotiate only with the Saints (and supply the Raiders with compensation) unless he and his agent felt the Saints would overpay.

for a super bowl victory? i agree. to win the south and maybe a playoff game in'23? we're only a few pieces away. if we had a decent rb2 we would've made the playoffs and won the division this year.

How on gods green earth, could you watch this season, and think ‘hey you know what, a backup running back is JUST what this team needs to get itself over the hump’

Please explain how you arrived at this conclusion.

RBs are the easiest position to find and fill in the current league. The last thing we should ever do is make decisions at other important positions for the sake of a RB

This is assuming he is cut. Nothing to do with the trade clause

Carr is a bridge, but gosh darn, another 3. We shouldn't have done if for SP and now this should have been a 4.

What leverage did the Saints have? None. The other option was to let Payton stay in the booth another year and get even less for him next offseason. Also, giving up only a 3 for Carr is better than I thought.

Everything to do with the no-trade clause. He has to waive it to be traded to a team. If, as you say, a bidding war would serve him better, why would he waive his no-trade to come to the Saints instead of making Raiders cut him and allowing him to negotiate as a free agent? He certainly does not owe the Raiders a favor with the way they treated him.

That better come with a reworked contract…. Or LV taking on significant portion of his guaranteed money

If the Saints have a top 10 D again this year, with Carr they’d win the division

I feel like 4th would be extremely fair, so I can't really balk at a 3rd

All depends on the compensation. If Loomis was able to convince the Raiders to rework the deal and eat some of his 2023 base salary; a 3rd May very well be worth it

Maybe you meant to clarify your earlier comment rather than replying to mine. Maybe read what you post or respond to before running your mouth "dude."

Desperate teams like the one that’s about to trade a third rounder for Derek Carr?

Should have waited to be released. Nobody else was trying to trade for him. Smh

You realize, we may be the only team that he would wave his no trade clause for and that by trading rather than signing, we would be getting him at a cap number that we can afford?

We will not win any bidding wars in FA this year.

Just have to deal with it max 2 years. Allen and all this will be gone by that time.

I stay dying laughing at all the Carr dick riders on this forum whose primary argument for trading for Carr is that he gives us the best QB in a shitty division.

So what? You're not winning anything of note with Derek Carr and all winning a shitty division is going to do is save Dennis Allen's job. You're rooting against the team's best interest long-term and arguably short-term. The quicker Allen gets the axe and we dedicate resources to finding a QB we can actually build around the better.

I love rooting for my favorite teams to suck. So much fun

Carr scheduled to make $32.9M this year, and Lamar Jackson to get $32.7M if franchised by the Ravens and traded.

I seriously doubt Lamar gets moved, but I think the money comparison is note worthy. Carr is overpaid for his production the past several years, but he is being paid arse the 9th QB overall.

So a contract restructuring or pay cut would have to happen.

So we are gonna take a QB who couldn’t succeed with the raiders, and pair him with a coach that couldn’t succeed with the raiders?
