So they believed we had a good defense, and we had one of the worst in history. Seem like good talent evaluation to you?

The issue was with letting vets walk to sign Byrd along with extending Junior. Then Keenan's knee exploded too

Just giving you an idea of what the actual consensus was at the time. Our WR play was shite.

I agree WR needed help, but defense has been the issue for 75% of the time that SP has been here

Can y'all shut the goddamn frick up about this? Clearly, it was not an option? Know how I know? Cause I'm not a goddamn fricking moron. frick!!

That said, I don't like the trade. What's more, I don't understand the rush at all. And I know Brees makes receivers, blah, blah, blah, but we are putting an awful lot of eggs in Thomas's health. What if he tears an ACL? What might have been the best position group on the team turns to one of the worst in the league. Snead, Ginn, and Coleman? Yikes. So, now they've got to figure out a way to address WR somehow. We'll see. It's not the worst trade in the world, but i am not seeing the strategy just yet.

I don't like this. Cooks was one of the few proven commodities we have acquired in the draft. Instead of getting a pick and a starter, we get two picks that we may blow. We should have kept Cooks. I know he shot off his mouth a couple of times last year but he was not that much of a malcontent.

Agreed. We had that midget frick for 2 more years minimum for a great price. He's a proven commodity, one of the few Saints hits in the draft, one we gave up multiple picks to get. Now we give him up for #32 and moving up some spots in the 3rd? I don't get what the rush was. What makes anyone think the Saints will hit on the picks knowing their history and will they be as good of a player as Cooks was? I really hope Tenn clears the air and says they never offered #18. It's pitchfork time if Loomis and SP gave Cooks away like that.

Being?

My point is that the front office has been horrible with the draft and veteran signings

Cool

And the point was it wasn't considered an issue going into the 2014 season.

Furthermore, we made moves to fix the defense that far outweighed the Cooks pick.

That's the only point.

That drafting cooks wasn't a mistake.

I'm meh, not happy or mad. We can grab a potentially damn good CB at 32.

Nb4 Patrick Robinson

We essentially just traded a proven player for an unproven player. That being said, I love Thomas and Snead and think Ginn will fill his role well. We'll still have a top 3 offense.

Well then agreed. Drafting Anthony was a mistake.

But my real argument was around your incorrect assumptions about where the Saints stood at the time. The consensus was a turnover forcing safety and a WR

Now explain how signing Byrd impacts that argument?

The problem with that is, someone believed they outweighed the cooks pick. The reality is all the moves they made were horrible, and now they've traded a first round pick after 3 years to try to remedy the issue

Chandler Jones was a shitty pick too I guess

Pretty huge assumption.

But yes, I think signing the highest paid safety in football came with the assumption that he wouldn't suck

Are you comparing the Saints front office to the Patriots with a straight face?

Not at all.

I'm comparing a stupid point you made with a similar move a fantastic FO made.....

And yes, signing the highest paid safety in football obviously came with the assumption that he wouldn't suck
