Fav pick by far of our draft. They rebounded nicely with him and the safety pick.
Shame we blew our 2nd rounder

Looks like we’re really valuing maturity and leadership and having played a lot of college football. Banks is a 3-year guy, everybody else is a 4 or 5 year guy who were 3 or 4 year starters. A couple are married if that’s Shough’s wife and not girlfriend. Seem to have intangibles that will make them not only good at, but eager and willing to play special teams. Not sure they’re all super high ceiling guys, but should be able to immediately fit in the 2-deep at their positions as rookies and take over as starters by their 2nd/3rd years.
I’d be surprised if anybody we’ve taken so far doesn’t make the roster. I’d imagine the pick coming up will be similar. Not gonna be any Hall of Famers, probably no All-Pros, maybe not any Pro Bowlers in this draft. But it could be a really good draft as far as finding core players that will be around for a while and that you can build around by adding playmakers/stars around them moving forward.

Two picks in the top 40 and two third round picks and no pro bowlers would be a disaster of a draft.

I think people need to actually work out the average length of career, number of pro bowlers per year, and number of draft picks per year to see the actual chance of a pick becoming a pro bowler, all pro, etc.
What you want is good, long term starters. If they never get the accolades, which is a VERY small % of players, it isn't the worst thing.

Jeff Ireland knew his mom and dad by name in the video the saints posted of the draft call. His dad played with Ireland at Baylor .

Quote from one of my favorite underrated movies.
It's also a fitting quote for the Saints Talk.

I haven’t seen one person with him going in the 2nd round. Everything I’ve seen had him projected as a 4th rounder.
We just did good not reaching for him like we normally do with our picks.
