Would much rather Cunningham, but we'd still have to trade back in the 1st or reach value wise.

Thought Stephone Anthony might have been the guy...not sure how he fell off so quickly.

He hasn't really fallen off. The Saints picked him too soon, not his fault.
He had a 2-3 round grade. Was graded at #72, so the Saints decide to pick him at 31. There is a good chance he would have been there in the early 3rd. No reason to reach for him at 31, but that has been the Saints strategy.
With Ireland the Saints have had more patience, but they still need work. The Saints need to trade down and get more picks.

reality is, we needed DT help too.

Malcom Brown @31, then Kendricks/Anthony @44, and Kikaha @75 would have been very possible/realistic.

Jenkins and Hicks had shown they were too unreliable with weight/effort. Being proactive in finding a better talent would have been smart and Brown would have stepped in beautifully.

Kikaha was considered a 2nd-3rd round talent and thus we took him early 2nd. he may have lasted til the 3rd, even then we may have been able to get Hunter if Kikaha was taken beforehand.

Kendricks was the #1 rated guy, dude should have been out guy from the getgo but we were also in this 'attitude revamp' and went for the lockerroom leader and athleticism > IQ

This dud is about to be available. I know how much 95% of this board wanted him and melted when we passed:

still cannot read the plays and make the right decision. its amazing how this wasn't picked up earlier on his film or scouting. If its so obvious to them now after drafting him, why the frick wasn't that caught before.

People say this, but he almost won DROY. And called the defense his rookie year.

Exactly! How much truly better was our D with him being moved to the outside from him being in the inside? I have been questioning our incompetent front office down to our coaches in the last 3 years
