Other than Vilma and Demario, does it seem they are satisfied with just borderline "serviceable" Linebackers? Both of the aforementioned came from outside the camp. I can't seem to remember a Saints LB that was homegrown and developed in a Saints uniform since who???? Marcus Fields

Werner is supposed to be a good one. We’ll see if he can stay healthy.

No one called him this and he didn't get good until he went to Carolina.

Do people really not like werner?
I just don't understand it. He is a baller.

Only so many elite linebackers to go around. With the NFL becoming a passing league, LB has become a little less important. The only big-name LBs that come to mind in the last 15 years are Lavonte David, Bobby Wagner, Luke Kuechly, and Patrick Willis.

payton even admitted in interviews that he never put much thought into the defense, and he felt having a good offense meant he just needed a mediocre defense to win.
just look who we had as DC throughout paytons time here and you can see it wasnt a priority for him to have a good defense

Not looking good that he’ll be reliably available. Seems to be on the Ellerbe plan.
