Did I say Jackson was even remotely close to Watson; I just indicated that most of the posters on this board love to jump on the next greatest thing because they saw a player have a good game.

You cannot deny that if Louisville won the NC we would have several threads about people wanting Jackson (granted I just saw a poster point out that he won't be eligible until next year).

Michael Thomas is a #2 WR. We need a true #1 WR to complement Michael Thomas

We have plenty of weapons on offense and Michael Thomas is fully capable of being a #1 WR. Those guys don't have to be giant or faster than anyone on the field. It's possible to be a #1 by being a complete receiver, which he is showing signs of becoming. We need OL and starters/depth on all units of the Defense. OL will hopefully be addressed in FA and later round of the draft and there should be plenty of very good options at DL and LB there for us.

Watson will either be gone by our pick at 11 (Top defensive player will fall in this case), or we convince Cleveland to give up their 12th and another pick to secure him. Or someone goes LA/Washington and gives up 36 picks.

Do you people even follow the NFL? You would be lucky to get a 4th or 5th for Cooks.

now you want to trade the high draft pick you said would change life for the New Orleans Saints

are two different things. I don't remember anyone saying there were only 5 good players in the draft, just that the higher the pick the better the options typically are.

I have to agree with you

cooks is fast but that's about it, his size means he cant go out there and be physical and "make plays happen", he has to depend on out manuvering guys to get open which limits his usefulness at times.

sure he is a great player who can make explosive plays, just like reggie bush did, but also just like reggie bush, other teams know his limitations as well and aren't willing to overpay to get him.

They got a 3rd for Stills. Ellerbe was included, but that was mostly a salary dump for Miami as he was coming off another season ending injury the year before. Cooks would be worth at worst a 3rd, but I wouldn't trade him for even a 2nd. We can pick up his 5th year and as the Saints only have another 2-3 year SB window, I say ride his contract out. Assuming we hit on FA and a few picks in the draft, we should easily be a playoff team.

Only teams that need a QB draft are in Top 10 49ers, Bears, Browns, and Bills. Bills are at the 10 spot and after Browns 12 spot non remain in 1st Round need a QB. Someone wanting to jump back in the 1st round at the 11th spot would have to give up almost the entire draft. Lets move on from this it's not happening.

take Cunningham later

Or just take him at 11. He's going to do well at the combine. He's big at 6'4 220 and fast and does well in coverage. He's gonna go higher than people think. Plus he's going to score high on the wonderlic and interview well because he's smart as shite.

Most mocks have him from 16-25 and I think he's a top 15 pick.

He's going into year 4 of his rookie contract and we have an option we can pick up. If you're going to trade him, you do it next offseason not this one.

Also, it would leave the saints with 0 deep threats. If anything, we need to add a burner

this is why you cant trade cooks

when he doesnt have to be the focal point and can just open things up by going deep, this offense runs much better

Dude what? We have the best passing offense in the league or near it. MT slayed as a rookie. All our guys are trending up.

We're done at WR unless we want another proven speed guy. Maybe Tommy Lee makes a jump.

I wish we could get a veteran receiver like an Anquan Boldin type to come in and round out the group.

On the Cooks front, when the Saints sign his 5th year option it will give him $8 million in 2018.

If the Saints were to entertain the idea of a trade they would sign the 5th year extension and then trade a two year contract to that team.

They pick right ahead of Cleveland's 2nd pick in the 1st round and indications are that they would love to get Deshaun Watson at #12.

My guess is that someone is going to jump earlier than #12.

One mock draft had the Bears taking QB Kizer at #3. The Jets would be the next team at #6. Nobody is going to think that San Diego, Carolina, or Cincinnati are going to take a QB, so that is 7, 8, and 9.

So does Buffalo (10) draft a QB, someone else or trade.

I don't see a team willing to jump to #5 (Titans) to get him.

The saints should have traded down the last few years. Everyone wanted them to. As much as I want them to, I don't see it happening.
