I can't remember the last time we actually addressed our biggest needs with high picks.
We desperately needed an olineman
You can't just lump O-lineman together like it's madden though....We very much needed a guard, hell I wouldn't be mad if we came away from the draft with 2 of them, but tackled WAS NOT NEEDED right now....Strief still has 2 years left on his deal, he is 31 but I don't think he has missed a game in the last 2 years while rating out as a top 5 RT in each of the last 2 years as well......Peat was a good pick at #13, just not by our team because it does not fit what we need.......I really am struggling to see why we drafted a player at a position where we have bonafide starters at in the middle of the 1st rd, unless they are possibly looking at trading Strief for a later pick for us to select a G because I don't see Armstead, Peat, or Strief playing at G

How do you know we could've had our picks?? Maybe someone moves up for them once we let them by. Maybe the next team is surprised they're available and scoops them up.
And here's a definite, team draft boards look nothing like what you have read on the Internet. Anthony could just as easily been rated as someone's #15 player as a he could be a second rounder.

I think we desperately needed an OL who is actually going to contribute in 2015.

"Only a tard like you"
Ummmm..
Yeah I agreed with what someone else said, (I actually quoted him) so I guess I'm not the only tard moron.
You on the other hand for failing to see that...
I don't hate the Anthony pick. I just think it was too early.
I do hate the Peat pick. I listened to everyone say, "Strief will move to Guard" all night.
Sean Payton answering the question about moving one of the tackles inside, "We are not moving either one to guard".
So there's that.

I feel the same way. A lot of ppl always want the sexy pic like someone else said here but we addressed actual needs and I think Peat will surprise ppl. If we snatch a decent DE and Wr we will have an overall successful draft imo.

I like the picks. The offensive line needed to be overhauled. Lelito is a question; Evans and Strief are getting up in age. Peat is talented and is a Stanford student; obviously he is smart. Anthony is big, fast, and coordinated. He fills a need on defense. Both players appear to have good character. I am glad we did not draft any of the drug heads; if they do something that stupid just prior to the draft they cannot be relied on. B+

Ohhhhhh. OK thanks. I thought if he had an 86 overall rating I could just slide him to guard.
We need youth on the oline. We got it. I'd still like to see a guard. Maybe they see a later round guy they like alot, maybe they'll trade strief and a pick for a proven player, maybe Lelito can actually play his own position now that we have have a true center.
Will strief get traded? Will Peat start? Will the Saints ever find a guard? And will the fanbase ever be happy with anything? Find out on the next exciting episode of Dragonball Z!

There would have had to be another player that some team wanted to trade up for which obviously wasn't the case tonight.

Anthony was a reach. I like the players but probably one of the top tier ILBs could've been had at 44. Even with his problems gregory was still a top tier OLB. We should've went there with that second pick. So C, both are good players

B- but Peat will be a lot better than most on here give him credit for.

I'm happy at this point. (maybe an "A") Hopefully both choices will pan out well. I'm just glad we didn't give away any selections to move up.
There are no guarantees when you make two selections in the first round. In 1993 we did well with Willie Roaf but not so much with Irv Smith. In 2011 we did well with Jordan but the jury is still out on Ingram who hasn't lived up to his billing.
We still need help at OG, DE, WR, TE, DB...and maybe even a project QB. With the Saints owning 3 of the next 46, we should be able to shore up many holes.
The Browner, Ellerbe, Spiller, and Unger signings have given the Saints options in this draft. Safety was weak last season but a healthy Byrd and "hopefully" rejuvenated Vaccaro should keep us from reaching at that position.
I'll miss Thomas and Lofton but overall I'll think we'll be better in 2016.

I haven't seen one person question his talent.
That isn't the issue with the pick

I agree. Lack of understanding is most people's issue with the pick.
They wanted a flashy WR which wouldn't have helped the team or an overhyped outside linebacker. Which also wouldn't have helped the team.
They are upset that we got a young O-lineman and a beast ilb in the first round. They're pissed that we drafted smart instead of flashy.

The really cheesy analogy I will use referring to last night is that we wisely chose vegetables over candy.
devante parker at 13 would have been candy...Taking the OL Peat over the WR was eating our broccoli
It may not have excited you but it's better in the long run; i was impressed to see that Payton passed on the shiny new toy to bolster protection for Brees.
As for Stephone, the FO brought in Kendricks and Stephone for workouts if I am correct, and they went Stephone. Gotta trust their instincts. Great start IMO

I think its you that is suffering from a lack of understanding. No one is pissed about taking an OL. People are trying to figure out where he fits in and how he helps the team this year. Do you need this broken down for you again or are you just going to keep pretending you're super smart for understanding a strong OL wins games?

He fits in at tackle and he helps the team bringing potential talent youth and depth to the plan. All 4 of those things have been a problem.

I play madden and win fantasy football leagues. I don't need anything broken down.

B+ I would have preferred to take two defensive players in the first round and address the offensive line in the second round. I understand the importance of protecting Brees though. I hope the next 3 picks are on defense and then we get a WR late.
