I think Peat plays pretty good when healthy. He just has a new injury every year it seems. He isn’t all that reliable to make that much money

Peat is average at best. Mostly below average when injured or kicked out to tackle. And he’s oft injured.

Warford was great in 2017 & 2018. He started off 2019 really well, but got injured and seemed to fall off a little. Not much, but a little.

This had to be a move about money, but I’m also guessing the coaching staff sees something they don’t like. Maybe he’s not staying in shape or is getting older or lazy or something.

He’s a good player and I hate to see him go. But I will trust the coaches.

Agreed on peat. Dont like that contract. Will disagree on drafting ruiz. If you want them drafting bpa, then you cant complain when they do. If you have 2 good centers, and neither can play guard, its not some huge problem. They still have peat and easton. If over the next year plus, its determined that neither can play guard, but they are good centers, you can trade one of them. Saints are pretty good at drafting olineman. So if they think it works, ill give them the benefit of the doubt

So our starters will be Ram, Ruiz, McCoy, Peat and Armstead with Easton, Clapp and maybe Greenidge as backup.

I remember when people used to respect Lester Earl and he’d bully people around the board.

Now y’all laugh at him.

Talented guys I just hate all the moving parts. Risky

One could argue that going into the season starting both Warford and Peat (who pretty much lost us the vikings game last year) is even riskier

BPA has layers tho, based on need & position scarcity

If the best player is a center year after year you shouldn’t keep taking them

It’s easier to swallow now that Warford is gone but I do question the approach

The tackles were even worse in that game

But now you have McCoy at G with limited experience there, a rookie C, & Peat. Idk how that isn’t riskier.

I never heard that the Tackles were worse in that game. But I honestly don't really remember seeing how they did particularly.

I don't think it's set in stone that McCoy moves to Guard. I think they will figure that out in camp. But we've had success with rookie linemen in the past. McCoy did damn well last year as a rookie. If Sean believes in Ruiz, I have no reason to think he can't handle it. If you see Ruiz as a early contributor, which Sean obviously does, then I think this is less risky than playing Warford who you know sucked last year.

Plus this extra cap space could go to signing a guy like apple or someone else to provide depth elsewhere.

Another big disconnect between #8 best guard per PFF and let’s cut him instead of letting him protect Brees in his last year.

Doesn’t exactly instill confidence for when Peat and Armstead inevitably go down

LE Opinions can be a bit too sterile with overstating raw facts and loose application to game play

But he does a good job with stating those facts, no objection from me.

It’s ok.

Now we’ve got the cap space to sign a veteran that’s better than a late round pick.
