Jason Reid of the Washington Post reports that
quote:

the Saints have inquired about Redskins DT Albert Haynesworth.

The Skins would probably want New Orleans' pick at No. 64 overall, at least. Reid confirms that the "door is still ajar" on a Haynesworth trade, despite the Lions and Titans having dropped out. Washington, which doesn't draft until the fourth round currently, wants to get back into the mix on Friday.

saints should give there second this year and a fourth and they could lock up haynesworth. dont know if the change of teams would do him good but it might. the biggest issue with him is that stupid fat contract washington gave him.

I still hold out hope that they can make this happen. We need another DT big time, and this would be a great pairing with Ellis. My only concern is the contract that comes with him. Was it mostly in signing bonus (good for Saints) or is it a big money deal each year?

It is this contract would not be as crazy as everyone thinks skins would pay most of it.

i dont know the money.. but i know washington just recently ate a healthy chunk of his salary. i think he's something like 8-9 mill for a year..? then it drops? which isn't too bad for the best DT in the game when he puts forth effort.

My only fear us that since it is a Washington guy who reported this, I'm worried that it may not be true.

Maybe the skins leaked it to try and get the Vikes back in the bidding or drive up the price

Here's hoping my fear is unfounded though

haynesworth is due 12mill roster bonus. the team who gets him via trade is onthe hook for this.

3 Years, $16 million, $9 million of which is guaranteed and THAT'S IT. Washington just paid him a $21 million bonus, which is why teams weren't interested beforehand. VERY manageable

We would be paying him roughly what we were going to pay Grant.

Hell no. They would have to throw in McIntosh at the very least for that kind of deal.

I think he would be a freakin DT destroyer in our system. Definitely instant upgrade and worth a 2nd rounder if we must give it up. Would love to just use a third and Brown though.

washington has no picks today. they know haynesworth is not happy. second and fourth would get it done.

The only guaranteed payments due him at this point are 2010 & 2011 salaries, a total of just $9 million combined. The Redskins already ate the really ugly parts of the contract.

Don't have it in front of me, but I'm 99% sure only this year's salary is guaranteed (about $4.5m?).

Would be a massive BOOM. This has my nipples as hard as they can possibly get.
