Saints Board at it again….regarding Haener

Kid takes his first snaps with 3rd string players and you guys are fricking melting. Did yall expect him to come looking like Montana and Brady? I thought the kid had presence in the huddle and was in command. He performed like a rookie qb should perform with 3rd string lineman. Some of you are fricking clueless about the game.

If anyone is concerned about Heaner after today, they don’t know what they are watching.

He has a much stronger arm than I thought.

I think it says a TON that he bounced back the way he did.

They knew Haener was a bust though because he threw a bad pass and reporters quit talking about him this past week. I mean, they were positive. They knew he was a bust b/c Ian Book didn't pan out and said we compared Haener to Brees. Let them have their moment from the 3rd Q please.

Anyone being critical of him for the INT needs to go back watch a replay. It was a route miscommunication, not a bad throw.
Route miscommunications often result in pics, esp when the QB throws out and the WR turns up.

He's a 3rd string QB playing with 3rd string players against 3rd string defensive players. He did exactly what guys in his position do, look very bad but sprinkle in something decent. The problem here is everyone wants him to replace Winston as the backup bc they hate Winston. Not gonna happen bc haener really isn't that good.

Hope we don’t need him for a long time. A long time.

I’m fairness he was also playing against their third stringers. But of course the overreacting will occur regardless.

Looked better than Trey Lance today

He did nothing today that showed anyone that he even deserves a spot on a practice squad roster. Y’all trying to sprinkle rainbows on a turd. I don’t care what Brees said in the booth those were terrible throws. He had 1 or 2 passes that weren’t horrendous. Maybe he will improve but he looked awful against practice squad guys.

Brees actually knows ball. I’m going to go with him in terms of QB play, with all due respect.
I personally saw enough today that shows that Haener is at least significantly better than Ian Book.
I’m fine with him at this point. I don’t think he is Joe Burrow or anything, but he’s worth keeping and trying to develop a bit. Seems like he has at least backup QB potential.

One thing I know for sure. He would eat Ian Book for breakfast.

Keep Winston as QB2 this year and then let Haener take those practice snaps starting in the offseason. It's time we try to develop one of the quarterbacks we keep wasting draft picks on every year.
