They will begin to overhaul the roster and Moore will have better talent to work with.

Having a starting QB on a rookie contract is the golden ticket. I haven’t really looked at our salary cap, but if they can add a few pieces, a big swing in the win/loss column is very possible. The Patriots this year are a prime example.

You are right. Look at KC now that they gave Mahomes the big payday. Now they can't build a team around him. Will soon happen with Buffalo and the Bengals.

You sure? We were dead last in dead money on the cap for next year until the jets had a fire sale at the trade deadline.

Now we are 2nd to last, but the jets have 100 million in cap space while we have 8 million. We still near the very bottom of the league in cap space.

You can tell this guy actively roots against the Saints on Sunday. Strange guy.

Correcting someone is actively rooting against the saints? You can say we are in better shape than we’ve been the last few years, mostly b/c of Carrs retirement. But look at the 2026 numbers on this link.

Several teams have over 80 million in cap space and we have 8. Instead of just taking our medicine one year, Loomis has continued to kick the can. I criticize the moves in here often b/c they have mostly been shite moves. Look at our record.

Are we out of salary cap hell after this season or next season? I would assume next season but I don't know.

It would technically be the following season but that's assuming we do absolutely nothing this offseason to clear more space.

For example here is a little breakdown of things that could happen:

Cut:
Taysom/ AK/ Godchaux/ Shepherd
= $22mil savings

Trade:
Olave/ Ruiz/ McCoy/ JJ/ Werner/ Yiadom
= $54mil savings

DD/ Cam = $18mil savings if THEY want out

You can take the $22mil from the cut group and throw it at Alijah Vera-Tucker (Top FA OG) and it would be a massive success.

Even just the (3) of Olave/ Ruiz/ Werner can create $31mil in savings and we can for sure find another home for them.

We aren’t going to gut the roster just to clear cap space. Just not how we operate. But we need to just to be disciplined and not commit to anything long term that isn’t smart and then really starting in 2027 we should be in the top half of the league as far as available cap space.

Even without that we shouldn’t be in cap “hell” next year. We just won’t have gobs of it

Yes that's why I laid out an entire group of players that are meaningless to our future success excluding only Olave.

Taysom/ AK/ Godchaux/ Shepherd

Olave/ Ruiz/ Werner

That's not gutting, its getting rid of dead weight. We save $50mil from that group and that's not including the dead cap we keep. Its wild this group cost this much and is arse. Even with the upside from Olave its hard to justify paying him $30mil if that's ballpark.

The cuts I agree with, although I suspect they would work with AK and taysom for reduced deals. I don’t think they’re going to trade Olave, Werner or McCoy before next year. There’s no market for Ruiz.

If Cam or DD retire then sure but we aren’t going to force them out the door.

I think it may depend on the draft and Olave's value.

We might be able to trade back for Jordyn Tyson, add atleast another 2nd this year and then get a call from PIT/ BUF type teams for Olave at the end of the 1st.

Draft another BPA and then you have (2) 2nds to add another speed WR and continue BPA.

We have (2) 4ths, (2) 5ths, and (1) 6th to attach with guys like Ruiz/ Werner if we really want or need the space.

Ruiz + 6th + 4th for a 3rd gets us the best pick and him the hell off our team. We can do those types of trades.

If you think Shough is the guy, we are officially back on the clock for loading up for a superbowl run.

Need to get one before Shough becomes the highest paid player in the nfl. Which he might be for half a second as the best qb of a draft class.

As far as signing free agents, it doesn't matter. The way new contract salaries are deferred nowadays, we can essentially use 2028 cap space to sign players now.

This. There will still be some dead money hits that bring down the number this year. Just don’t push anything forward excessively, have another draft the keep flipping the age of the roster and above all do NOT spend on a big piece or two this year.

Just stay disciplined and we will keep digging out of this.
