Saw this on Twitter the second it broke. Had to re-read multiple times.

Started fapping once I was able to comprehend.

Still fapping.

Ian Rapaport is saying that cap hit we are taking in Byrd's first year is only 4 million, leaving us with room to do some more magic

Must be a low signing bonus. Maybe $15m/5(signing bonus is only divided amongst the first 5 years of a deal) = $3m per + $1m base.

That's definitely Loomis' MO. He did that with Bunkley and Lofton too.

This also means, once Sproles departs, we didn't have to make any other moves to do this. So we still have a ton of options is we want to push.

I figured Loomis did something like that. I expect a center or RT to be signed before Draft Day

I doubt we sign a C for more than vet minimum as a 1 year stop gap while we draft our future C. Goodwin is the perfect candidate for that and knows our system.

RT depends on how much they trust Harris. A little trust and we sign a legit guy/resign Strief. A lot of trust and we sign a vet for depth/insurance. I'd like to resign Strief.

It's still hard to believe we are gonna have one of the best safeties in the league on our team

Damn. He's only 5"10 though. The NFL version of the honey badger.

damn, would've preferred Talib

No way

Aqib is a great corner, no doubt about it. But Byrd gives is something of great need, a bawl hawking safety who can also play against the run (im sure you remember what happened the year when we had Sharper back there). The combo of Byrd and Vacarro will arguably be the best tandem in the NFL. We already have lewis and can go after another corner in the draft.

Also, Aqib seems like more of a diva type player who has also had some issues off the field

Last season, Jairus Byrd, Kenny Vaccaro, and Rafael Bush combined for 8 missed tackles.

...Malcolm Jenkins had 16 missed tackles.

Vaccaro and Byrd ranked #2 and #19, respectively, in tackle efficiency last season...Byrd ranked #1 in 2012 (among safeties).

...Keenan Lewis ranked #1 in tackle efficiency last season (among cornerbacks).

Byrd, Vaccaro, and Lewis could all be under contract for the next four seasons making an average salary of ~16M.
