Good to hear. He's not a pro bowl player anymore but still a good player that fills a need. Also maybe he finds the fountain of HGH I mean youth somewhere.
Wonder what he is getting paid

Rogers' deal is worth $4 million, a league source told ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter.

Damn. More than I expected. Would have preferred a 2nd year with a decent sized roster bonus so that, if he plays well, we could at least keep him one more season. One year "show me" contracts aren't usually worth 2/3rds the value of the contract they were cut for.

I'd imagine a lot of that is incentives.

Address needs through free agency, draft best players available

I read a while back that he didn't like being on bad teams his whole career. I'd be willing to bet he has a great season next year being that he has something to play for.

we should still address the DT position in the draft if a guy who we think can be a long term prospect falls to us. this is about constantly building and a rotation of guys will only make rogers and ellis better and more rested.....
r1 justin houston de
r2 marvin austin dt
r3 randall cobb wr/kr
r3 mcdaniel ss
de smith, brown, houston, charleston, galette
dt ellis, rogers, austin, wilkerson
lb vilma, casillas, ajhawk, mitchell, dunbar
cb greer, porter, robinson, torrence,
ss jenkins, harper, mcdaniel, priolieu
keeping 9 dl or 9 db might not be possible but since jenkins is so versatile that may give us some wiggle and we keep only 8 dbs.
with a 7th rouder and the compensatory 5th pick that we are hopefully receiving, we should add depth at OL, rb, or cb. Normally I wouldn't predict a wr like cobb so early but with his polished skillset and versatility and payton's admission of a kr need, I can see that being taken before a rb. we can plug a lot of guys at rb, but devery and meachem showed you can't do the same for kr.

Shaun Rogers turned down chance to make roughly $6M elsewhere to sign with Saints for about $4M. Wants to be there.

frick yeah! At worst he'll be a decent clogger, but this guy really still has some good years left and I think we're a RE (and moving Smith to LE) away from having a potentially disruptive front four.
totally agree with this. I also like the one year deal. Another good move by this front office. I won't say it'll be overly disruptive, but it's an improvement.

We actually have guys turning down money to play for the Saints

would be nice, but seeing as though depth at that position seems to always be an issue, don't count on it.
