You obviously didn't read his book. He explains this, and quite extensively.

His first choice was Miami, but Saban wouldn't be straight with him on whether or not he wanted him there. Hell, he tells a story about how he and Brittany's visit to NOLA could not have gone worse, (getting lost, having to drive thru the still devastated areas.) Payton and Loomis were all in about wanting him there. He specifically said after seeing the city, they both felt like there was a reason that the events happened as they did and he was all in. He has been ever since.

Take your BS somewhere else. Out of all the Saints on the roster, you cannot say shite about Drew Brees' commitment to this city.

I'm not being negative. And that's what's so damn comical about this. Critical? Yes. Negative? No.

I'm as big a Saints fan as the most delusional sunshine pumper on here. I just don't equate being a fan with thinking the team is going to win every game, and that the players and coaches never frick up.

Thinking CSP will go to Dallas if offered the job doesn't mean I hate the Saints. It just means that I think CSP will go to Dallas if offered the job. That's it.

Thinking Brees was a greedy douche during the negotiations or thinking he is full of shite when he talks about how coming to the Saints was some kind of calling from on high, does not mean I hate him. I think he the greatest QB in Saints history and one of the best ever, and I glad as hell he plays for the Saints.

He called Saban AFTER his tour of the city to see if he was interested or not. Saban said the doctors wouldn't give the green light so he wouldn't make the commitment to Brees that he was looking for.
