YES WE SHOULD!

We want to WIN NOW? Go get another solid WR to add to a stable offense. He is exactly what we need.

Work him out (with permission) and offer a pick.

4th rounder?

I think some other team will pay more and has he even said he wants to play again?

Seems like to me all you'll be doing is throwing away a pick. Has even given any assurances or any indications at all that he's even willing to come out of retirement to play again?

Someone in his camp HAD to have leaked this 'info'. His name doesn't just come up after a year off from football.

Loomis:"we'll give you a second round pick for the rights to Calvin Johnson"

Lions: "You have a deal"

Loomis: "welcome to the team Calvin"

Calvin: "who said i was coming out of retirement?"

Loomis: "well, shite"

Calvin Johnson was really hurting his last year in the league. The dude could barely run at times, I'd be hard pressed to give up anything more than a conditional 5th rounder for a 32 year old WR who is incredibly banged up.

For a conditional 5th they are better of just holding his rights and hoping someone gets desperate.

Why give up anything for a guy who may not even want to play.

Calvin Johnson has a phone. Nobody is going to trade for the guy without talking to him before.

Would rather TY Hilton.
4 straight seasons of over 1000+ yards
4 years younger
cheaper on contract if I'm not mistaken
Provides massive upgrade in slot. Snead can move out wide once his fully acclimated he plays well outside. Ginn can be that rotational speed threat(meachem, henderson, etc)

TY is too fast for brees... he can’t even be on target with guys like Ginn and has been under throwing balls for a few years now.. big 6’5 receiver like CJ is exactly what he needs.

I wouldn’t say too fast for Brees. But we definitely do not need a receiver that primarily beats deep safeties. Drew does not have the arm to make those throws.
