I really like shepherd. He’s shown to be able to handle pretty huge volume when obj was out the last few years.

Campbell would be a good pick for the future not current noodle arm Brees who would probably throw it 15 behind him on a 30 yard route getting that WR killed

Campbell did a ton of damage on screens and drag routes. His run after the catch is his calling card. Can also carry the ball on jet sweeps and such

So basically the exact opposite of what you’re thinking

i think the opposite. They trade back and try and acquire more picks in3rd-4th

When have the Saints ever traded back?

We will be trading next year's #1 to go get somebody if we like what's available in the mid 20s.

When have the saints only had 1 pick in the first 150?

Did he? He barely had better games when OBJ was out.

Besides missing out on O-line depth, I don’t think this would be a bad class considering Our limited draft capital.

Especially the top 4. Jelks and Lewis probably wouldn’t make the roster though

We had two late picks in the first 150 in 2012. We stayed put and picked Hicks and Toon. I don’t see us trading back, we never do. And it’s not like we lost a dozen players we need to replace with rookies.

Saints need immediate help at several positions

if they have any kind of foresight with Brees potentially leaving after this year, they wont be mortgaging future drafts at the expense of this one.

Nah, they are focused on winning with Brees and will let the post Brees era work itself out. Not saying they trade up, but we rarely if ever trade back.

Who is available for us to trade back to get picks that will be an “immediate” help? IMO, we will likely pick up a RB, offensive lineman, secondary player and maybe a tight end.

Just not sure multiple 5th round guys are going to fill out this roster.

well, its a deep TE draft and OL value can be had in the middle rounds.

trade out of RD2 and pick up a 3rd & a 4th and that could pay dividends.

right, but you are picking at 62 to begin with Basically 3rd rd.. Trading out of there and there isn't much difference in value if you get a mid 3rd RD pick and pick up a 4th.

Honestly this has never truly been said or even shown to be really the case via the actual organization.

I feel like it’s a sentiment repeated daily on message boards that has almost become accepted as fact. Very few of our moves are of the “all in, future be damned” variety and thankfully so.

The Payton regime has always been fairly aggressive in moving up the draft board. Having such fantastic drafts in recent years has allowed us to be even more aggressive (Davenport) but I feel like that is our natural tendency and not something we’re doing specifically due to the Brees retirement clock.

I think 2013 and 14 we kinda went all in and it set us back. 2015 we started to do much better, I guess Loomis learned his lesson, plus we started drafting better. I disagree with going all in b/c of Brees. Teams can play well w/o a superstar QB, I do think you need at least a solid to good one but he doesn't have to be one of the best in history. I'd like our team to be in good shape when Brees leaves here.

Absolutely. Which is an exponentially more prudent path than recklessly going “all in” on a 40 year old qbs swan song. Especially with a very talented young roster.

With the loss of Unger we need a quality O-Lineman in the 2nd now. Get our TE/WR later in draft.

yep... with us needing quite a few weapons on Offense with only basically 1 more season with brees, losing a very valuable piece on the OL, and being a decently deep draft for positions that we need, i don't see us drafting 1st or 2nd round at all, tbh...

try to stock pile some picks, get some leverage, and make some waves later in the draft, where we've actually done better, historically, anyway...
