Robinson's Ankle Broke; Was It an Accident?

I didn't see this play happen in real time, as I had to stream the game (and the streams are unreliable at the best of times).
But there have been some rumblings about the way Patrick Robinson got injured.
Jake Matthews, a Falcons player who has earned a bit of a reputation (to some) for being a dirty player, fell on the ground and rolled over Robinson's ankle.
The video doesn't look great; and honestly, I'm not sure why he rolled like this.
It could have been momentum, I suppose.
What say you?

Even if he didn't mean to do it it should have been called for a chop block.

Suspend the guy 6 games and pay a fine...

I remember watching it and thinking it was pretty ridiculous how he tried to block Robinson.
Guys going down like that at people's ankles when they're clearly focused somewhere elsewhere is always a recipe for disaster.

Why an OL needs to block a CB's legs at all is beyond me.

Well it was an illegal block

I hate when OL do it. fricking bullshite having a 300lb guy throw themselves into a 180-200lb cornerback. bad timing like that (i.e. rolling into the ankle as they plant) can end fricking horribly.

It was a pos move from a classless organization
Hopefully more of their players get hurt for the season

Low blow for sure. What comes around goes around...

thats just football, nothing intentional to injure there but he did go low

I would say a good argument could be made that his momentum took him into the roll on the ground. That's a lot of weight in motion to try to stop.
ETA: I also think it's absurd for a 300 lb lineman to go low on a 200 lb CB. Low blocks are illegal outside of the free blocking zone in the high school rulebook, and I think the NFL should review adopting that rule.

Nope. Not a chop block. I think you mean cut block. Which is legal in that situation.

I can't find anything in the NFL rule book that supports your statement that the block was illegal. Low blocks are only illegal following a change of possession or during kicking situations.
Blocks below the waist are prohibited in the following situations:
By players of either team after a change of possession; or
By players of the kicking team after a Free Kick, Safety Kick, Fair-Catch Kick, Punt, Field-Goal Attempt, or Try Kick; or
By players of the receiving team during a down in which there is a Free Kick, Safety Kick, Fair-Catch Kick, Punt, Field- Goal Attempt, or Try Kick.
Penalty: For illegally blocking below the waist: Loss of 15 yards.

I think the rule has also been changed in college football as well. I remember an LSU lineman being flagged I believe against Auburn for diving at a DB's legs outside the box.

Yeah, I think they popped two OL for that on one play.
