May the man rest in peace, but how in the world did he get an NFL coaching job?

He was a nice man. In the 1990's he was working as a safety expert and used to come by our office to pass out advertisements. He was one of those people who went in to bunker mentality because he thought the world was going to come to an end on Y2K.

His first game as head coach was the Dempsey kick.

I was there. That was the highlight not only of his tenure, but of the next two decades.

Mecom was a squirrel even before Buddy D coined the phrase.

Vic Schwenk was the Saints' first real GM, he was on watch when the decision to hire Roberts was made.

"Cheap" was probably the operative term in the hire.

RIP Roberts, 88 years old is old for the winner of an Outland Trophy (1953, Oklahoma).

Had to check out of curiosity, 7 of the first 8 Saints coaches are now deceased.

RIP

JD was called up in mid-week before the Detroit game. I was there for the Dempsey kick, so remember the exultation of the moment. Doubt Tom Fears would have mafpdebthe call to let him try the kick.

He was a good, tough coach that put his heart in it, but never had the talent, except for Archie.
