Yeah, and he was a first round pick.
Based on numbers, not talent. Look what happened.

And was on drugs and actually played decently in the NFL. He wouldve been fine if he took the sport seriously.
He didn’t have the arm, accuracy, or athleticism to make it in the NFL. There was no scenario in which the way he played in college would translate. He was like poor man’s Baker Mayfield.

Not at all. You said he was carving defenses up as a 23 year old when the reality of the situation is he was 22 years old for 99% of the 2019 season and honestly started to break out at the end of the 2018 season at 21 when he threw for 1100 yards and 10 TD over the final 4 games while running for another 150 and 3 TD. This is normal for a college prospect. What is not normal is for a player to break out at 23 years old, when many of the pro-level counterparts in his recruiting class had already been in the league 2 years. It's the age, it's the crappy offense he played in that didn't require progression throws or reads. The upside isn't there for him as a prospect. JMO, but we'll see.
Fair enough. I agree none of us know for sure how he’ll turn out, I’m not betting one way or the other, as I can see it going either direction.
My only position on him really is don’t rule him out based on age if you think he’s your guy. Lots of time left on those 25 year old tires.
Maybe I’m sensitive to criticizing a 25 year old as being “topped out” because I’m turning 50 next month! Ha!

It’s big enough for your wife and mom at the same time, lil guy.

I’d say he “shouldn’t” take his first snap until 2024 outside of specific situations. Backup to Lamar or Huntley, Payton bring him to Den to run his Taysom package… other than that, he should be the 53td man on the roster.
Unfortunately, he could end up in a system where the HC is worried about his job and forces him into the lineup to save his arse for another year. Just have to hope they have a good oline so Hooker doesn’t get killed

LOL. He averaged plus 5 yards a carry in the NFL but he wasnt athletic enough. He was a drug addict doing this - even skipped out on the team for a weekend coke bender.
He was more like a Russel Wilson, who liked drugs and partying more than football.

Youre not wrong. Hooker would be a first rounder if he was 22.
Even at 25 he's still a top 3 round prospect.

If Las Vegas does not have a QB they will take him in the 2nd round ahead of the Saints.

Yup. They are scouting the crap out of him.
Def will be gone.
Lets be honest - what is the difference between Hooker and Stroud, other than age by a few years?
Not a whole lot.

Burrow was drafted as a 23 year old and was 23 for every game he played as a rookie.
Nice cherry picking. He tore his acl and didnt finish the season bud. But he was a 24 year old rookie.

take Hook in the first if we don't sign a vet QB

This is called a deflection. Burrow turned 24 as a rookie. Context matters.

Here's yds/att since they didn't pass equal attempts...
Stroud's sample you used: 9.8 yds/att
Hooker's sample you used: 9.3 yds/att
Both are outstanding. For reference, 9.5 yds/att led the nation this season, which was a 3-way tie that included stroud and hooker.
You didn't put hooker's passer rating in your sample. It was 165.75 and 153.45, which is obviously less than stroud, but still good.
Probably worth noting that once Harrison jr, egbuka, and smith-njigba are drafted, that will be 5 1st round picks that stroud threw to in your sample... maybe egbuka falls to 2nd round
ETA... if you're comparing these 2, probably should at least mention hooker is much better runner
I would take stroud over hooker, so I'm not saying they're equals. I am saying hooker is pretty good himself

You could use Hooker’s best two seasons when he was older than the league and comp him to Stroud as 20-21 y/o, Stroud still tops him
Stroud’s floor is Hooker’s ceiling. It’s why age matters

I have no idea why we are even talk about Stroud. The Saints will have to trade a ton of assets to get into a position to take him.
I don't know if I believe that.

Stroud can run, ask Georgia about it.
