His numbers aren't bad. I little worried about the fact that he is "injury prone", but, did we have a running back that played the whole season in 2009?

The New Orleans Saints could be adding another running back.
WWL-TV is reporting that free agent running back Justin Fargas is in New Orleans for a visit with the Saints. The visit comes a day after restricted free agent running back Mike Bell, who played for the Saints last year, signed an offer sheet with the Philadelphia Eagles.
Fargas was released by the Raiders, which means the Saints signing him would not be subject to the "final four" rule. The Raiders said Fargas failed a physical, but Fargas says he's healthy enough to play. He also drew interest from the Chiefs, Browns and Eagles, but both the Browns and Eagles have reportedly decided not to make him an offer.
The 30-year old Fargas carried 129 times for 491 yards for the Raiders last year.

Yea and then I will look up LT's 2007...3 years is a long time
the expectations for Fargas and LT are totally different.

Same ypc as the beast Mike Bell.

Missing the point..why go spend money there when Hamilton has comparable ypc to Bell and is suitable as a big 3rd string back

Gee, its almost as if Hamilton has only 35 carries (mostly in meaningless games/situations) to compare.

Yet for a turrible O-line.

And a pretty terrible passing attack

Nothing against Fargas but i'd rather the team get younger at the RB spot. But Payton loves his veterans

Fargas is a very solid RB. I would like to see him signed over Mike Bell.

Not really. Isn't pretty obvious that whoever signs Fargas will do it for a minimum contract?
No, it isn't. You're assuming.

I really like Fargas, always produced in Oakland even when the passing game wasn't helping him out at all.
I agree. Additionally, I wouldn't hold his age against him because he hasn't gotten a lot of snaps over the past 2 years. I think he would be a nice pick RB to have in our rotation of RBs by committee. I wouldn't spend a lot of $ on him but I would think that he wouldn't command an exhorbitant price.

any thoughts? good pickup to replace Bell?
Fargas is much better than Bell, IMO.

fargas was very good like 2 or 3 years ago.. but i haven't kept up with him lately..

People need to stop using the term 3rd string RB. That is not how our backfield works. It is a situational rotation.

Anybody listen to Detellier on WWL yesterday talking about Fargas? Make some very strong arguments about Fargas as to why he's possibly a good fit with the saints and all the connections and the history of fargas. He convinced me... if he's healthy, I would welcome him on our roster especially over Bell.

If Fargas stays healthy for the Saints, he will be a huge contributor. I think it'd be a great signing given a good price. Get em saints.

Some key points...
Fargas was the leader for USC when they had palmer and palmalo.
Fargas has the biggest competitive spirit that Coach ORgeron has seen since warren sapp and he's the one who recruited him to usc when he left michigan.
Great locker room leader and veteran to have bla bla bla.
Tom Cable connection with Sean Payton.
Our o-line coach came from oakland i believe and might be going to be for fargas.
Fargas connection with USC with Reggie Bush.
Fargas is a great PASS BLOCKER, something that Bell struggles at and this team could use.
Fargas' health is the biggest issue at this point.
Fargas is great at selection game day cleats to wear.
