Needed more bodies in the QB room. Cant go into the season with just Rattler and Haener. The franchise QB is not on the roster. Next year Saints will have options for drafting franchise QB because this year will suck so bad.

he is 26 years old, and has played SEVEN fricking years of college football... he doesn't get the luxury of "time to figure it out", especially drafted in the top 50... he HAS TO hit the ground running, and be clear cut #1, or i'm sorry, we wasted a pick b/c now we have to draft ANOTHER QB to replace him...

the use of high draft picks at a redundant position, like picking OT in the 1st round 3 of the last 4 years, is what hampers overall roster development... we are so devoid of talent across the board, that we don't have the luxury of using high draft picks to draft the same position year after year... we waste opportunity getting better at other positions when we are constant using our high picks on the same one or two positions, like we have with DE and OT... it's one of the main reasons we are in the state we are in, in regards to the roster

we knew this BEFORE spending the 40 pick on this guy... it makes the fact that we picked him WORSE, b/c instead of just saying we are gonna roll with Rattler and take our lumps, like we would with ANY of the rookie QBs this year (it was a very down year for QB talent in the draft), and picking a different position to target with 40 and getting better at another position, we took Shough, didn't get better at another position, and will still have to draft a QB to hopefully take the reigns b/c Shough is not the guy....

it's maddening that they were that fricking stupid...

The need for a serviceable backup QB is high. Haener is not QB2 quality. If Rattler goes down wtf are they going to do? They cant transition to an option offense with gogo gadget mormon on the fly. It’s a shite sandwhich and it will be that way for a bit

i agree... but you can sign a vet off the street to full that position, one that gives you just as much as Shough, AND would have veteran experience to help school Rattler, in addition... having an older rookie QB just to be a back up, while still having to eventually use high draft capital AGAIN, so soon, that is what hampers your roster development, as you are not able to address other positions of need since you are constantly drafting the same few positions, vs. a wider range of positions...

If Rattler goes down wtf are they going to do?

bruh, Rattler is not a franchise QB, stop acting like he is... we are not going to be all that much worse if Rattler goes down vs. him playing.... again, picking a QB at 40, one who has a much smaller opportunity to be "the guy", just to not win the QB1 race and sit the bench, only to STILL have to use high draft capital to try to find "the guy" is a waste

i know that... you know that... it seems the FO doesn't know that...

No it’s not a waste. You draft QBs until you don’t have to. And save the “2026 QB class is great” point, because we do not know that.

And why does he have a “much smaller opportunity”? The guys 25, y’all act like he’s a geriatric.

Vet would cost more $$$$$. Dont have the cap space for a vet.

I already said he wasnt. He’s the only thing we really have at the position though. The entire team would give up if you trotted out anything worse than him.

They’re likely aware but its too late. FO can get fkd. Doomed as soon as we let Fontenot go to the Falcons. But nooooo the Saints just had to become married to Loomis’ dumb arse.

I think Moore will be a good HC. Im just concerned it wont be with the Saints as he is sandbagged by the organization

How do you know that? Because the "experts" say that? Those guys are paid to put out talking points and that's it. It doesn't matter if they are right or wrong. That's why they are so wrong and jekyll and Hyde every other week. It's about ratings.

There's at least 7 to 10 teams a year that either regress by 4 wins or improve by 4 wins. We were absolute dogshit last year and won 5. So you are saying we got worse because we lost Carr and Dennis Allen and our health hasn't improved?

Look there's alot of question marks on this team and we will have growing pains but I don't see this team being worse than last year.

Saints will have a top five pick in next year’s draft. Thats how hard we will suck.

If you dont think so I’d like for you to name five teams who will be worse than the Saints.

And that’s why you go get a vet.

Flacco or Teddy B was floating out there. This wasn’t the year to draft a qb.
Especially with a top 40 pick.

We will be doing the same next draft

Wentz would take anything right now to get on a team. We have money once Carr retired.

Tyler Hundley just signed for 1.2 million for a year. His style is similar to Hurts, and was in the pro bowl not long ago lol….

Two different nfl gms recently gave up 2nd and 3rd round picks for him.

You think he will be any worse than what we have?

So you want a temp qb to win a couple more games and pick even lower next year. Got you down.

No, but it would have been nice to have a superbowl winning qb or even a successful qb for the young guys to lean on.
