re: QB is Problem #1

I understand everyone’s frustrations with Rattler.
I also believe Shough was another botched draft pick by the Saints.
The only solution is the draft…. but 2026 doesn’t have any Franchise QBs .
Typical cluster situation the Saints find themselves.

He hasn't played a single game

How can you say they were even? Shough played 2 drives with starters....

Mr FunBunch…
If you draft a QB in the 2nd rd of the draft then this player should be the future of your team.
But…. Houston we have a Problem !!
I don’t think Shough’s talent and productivity matches the draft position.
Honestly, I think he represents another botched Saints draft pick.
Again… he’s Moore’s guy but Moore is not playing him when an upgrade at QB is desperately needed.
Why do you think that is occurring ??
I don’t think he’s what Moore envisioned or hoped he would be as a QB.
Drafted him because he THOUGHT he was mature with 6 years in college and advanced in skill set.
I don’t think he’s what Moore THOUGHT or Hoped !!
Time will tell but right NOW….
Moore ( his biggest fan) is Not putting him on the field.
Again, Why ???
I think the answer is above.

Shough has got to play so we can see if he is something we can build around or we have to find someone else.

Pretty much every media observer thought it was pretty even at the end, and that Shough would get the job just based on the fact that Rattler didn't outright win it
Shough got better as TC and the preseason wore on.
Rattler slightly outperformed him but should have done more given his experience and Shough was picked 40th.
However KM is saying Rattler is his guy in every interview so we will see

Botched in the sense that it is confirmed we could’ve rolled rattler all season and used the 40th pick on a hopeful contributor

Ok. Shough hasn't played. You don't know if he is or isn't

He has zero productivity because he hasn't played.
I was not huge on Shough pre-draft.
But they picked him 40th. Until he has a large sample size of games played the pick simply cannot be judged

This is a fair position, but I cannot judge it until Shough plays 7-8 games

plenty of qbs have been drafted higher than 40th and took way longer than 4 weeks to make their first start. I think people are skewing his age too far. He still has development to do, systems to learn, NFL acclimation to go through. Dart for example had over 400 more collegiate passing attempts than Shough. Yes Dart is younger but he still had more opportunities in college to progress. People want to post a hot take so damn badly that nobody has any fricking patience no more. Give it time. Let it play out. The End.

Apparently, Moore hasn’t seen anything he likes in practice that warrants giving Shough a chance on the field for games.
We are only left to assume this … as Moore should be Shough’s biggest supporter as the Man who selected him… but yet Moore doesn’t put him on the field when QB improvement is needed.
Once the Saints get to the record of
1-11 or 2-10. ….
Shough will be put on the field as the starter and Rattlers book is closed.

You are making wild assumptions.

Rattler is not a Franchise guy and I doubt Shough is too. If we have the first overall pick than Kellen Moore needs to get him a franchise guy. This will be a good QB draft. We need dudes everywhere. So for the trade deadline have a fire sale, get as many picks as you can, and build in the draft and FA. We need to get young and fast on on Defense especially running a 3-4. We need to add a dominat WR and we need O-line depth. To build all this you need a Franchise QB and I just don't think we have that. I would start Shough the rest of the way though to see who my backup will be.

FunBunch and Chadboy…..
I just stated above “we are left to assume this”
Don’t act as if you’ve discovered something .
I just stated it above.
So…
What other explanations do you have that Moore is NOT playing Shough despite the fact the QB position desperately needs improvement and Moore won’t even give Shougha chance on the field ???
Come on… if Shough has this incredible skill set…
WHY isn’t he in the field ??
Tell us all and impress us.

know I will get crushed by the Rattler truthers and folks that think he is our franchise guy, but he is very much the reason that we currently have no wins.
This team is 0-4 and in 3 of those games, had drives in the 4th quarter to take lead or at very least tie. As bad as we think this team is overall, that is crazy to me to think we could legitimately be 2-2 maybe even 3-1 with a better QB at the helm.
Well if you want to want to put Shough in to see what he's capable of I can agree. But if you think changing the QB will suddenly have this team winning you aren't paying attention.

The most obvious one. Moore wants him on the sideline and learning more, and key offensive players like Taysom, Moreau, and Penning back before throwing him into the fire.

I see that some might think this..,,
But I’m a Baptism by Fire Guy.
Best way for him to learn ( if that’s the only issue.. as YOU are NOW ASSUMING that’s the only issue) …
Put Shough on the field !!!
Fastest way to learn !!
You see… when I can flip your argument you placed on me…. Right back on you very quickly…
That shows you haven’t clearly thought out your Responses.

What’s the hot take?
The original defense of selecting Shough was maturity, experience, “played in a pro system”, ready to play. That was the fallback bc we ignored his lackluster production as an older college QB. Now we have a 26 year old developmental project?

Mr Gyno,
You are correct….
But these guys don’t want to hear logic, reason and read between the lines.
They need to see failure on the field before they believe.
And Trust Me…. If you are a lifelong Saints fan of 40+ years….there is plenty of failure to see on the field. !!
and plenty more coming over next 2-3 years of the rebuild !!
