Am I out of line in HOPING I don't have to watch them play in black and gold next season or ever again for that matter?

After re watching some games from this past season, Porter gives shite for effort, doesn't tackle, and IMO is basically worthless over all

I will never forget him as a saint and he will for ever be a huge name in Saints lore, but it's time for him to go.

As far as Shanle, the guy gives max effort every play, he just simply isn't athletic enough to play anymore in the NFL. IMO, he hasn't been starting quality in two and a half years.

Everyone else I could live with and will be interested in seeing how they play with a new scheme.

Porter is a great man coverage CB. I wouldn't mind bringing him back if he was cheap. He is pretty worthless in tackling and does get hurt a lot. He makes plays when we need them though. See the batted ball that won us the game this year.

Shanle can pack for all I care.

Thanx to Fujita, Shanle played way over his head back in 2009...

Unfortunately, I think Shanle has a history with our new DC. Don't count him out yet. Dude's got more lives than a cat.

I guess if the Saints let Porter go I wonder if Ingram is going to get that # 22?

Porter's got some issues, a few missed tackles here and there, but i wouldn't go that far. Especially if Prob steps up big. If we can keep him around for cheap and move him to nickle or keep him as a a backup I'm all for it. He's not as terrible as some of the other Saints corners I've had to watch over the years (Fakir Brown, Jason David, Jason Craft, Tabucky Jones...)

As for shanle. Hes made a few good plays, but I just want him gone. I'll admit the guy has made 1 or 2 good plays this season. But the game has passed him by. He's got heart, but sometimes that just aint enough.

Although thinking about that picture from Superbowl XLIV with Porter running the pic into the endzone with Smith and Shanle right behind him, its hard to want them all gone next season, although that may be the case.

I wouldn't say he's great at man coverage. He does ok in the slot. He has no business playing the outside. You're just asking for a long completion or a PI.

I said in another thread that I think he could actually thrive in a zone scheme. He has great anticipation when things are in front of him, but you get him turned around and he seems to lose his shite.

His play really fell off this year. He was never consistent, but his redemption plays were too few.

Smith is the only decent pass rusher we have right now, I don't want to see him gone.

Porter.. Yes and no. He had a fantastic season in 2009, but there's been a large dropoff. He's still okay, I think he gives the CBs good depth.

Spagnuolo started in Philadelphia, moved to the Giants, then to St. Louis.

Shanle started in St. Louis and then Dallas in his rookie season (2003), then left Dallas for New Orleans in 2006.

There's no overlap at any point that I see.

See Marshawn Lynch knocking him 5 yards back with a stiff arm.

Porter USED to make key plays. He's made maybe one that I can remember since the Super Bowl.

6 degrees man. Shanle played in STL. Later, Spags coached in STL. Thus, Shanle and Spags have a history b/c they were both associated with STL. They might as well be brothers.

Brothers, my arse. They both share the initials SS. They might as well be the same person.

at first I was like huh? but then I laughed.

Ya know all the variations of Sh*t ___________ Says things that are sprouting all over? I'm thinking we need a weekly Sh*t Saints Talkers Say thread as a compendium of weekly out of nowhere stuff spewed. perfect example.

another from the stickied offseason discussion thread-

if roman harper is our starting safety next year then we will not win 8 games, i like the guy but he is absolutely terrible! every big gain Davis had was from him missing a takcle in the open field.
