Kind of hard to argue Reggie isn't a different type of player than a RB. I don't even really view him as a RB anymore tbh. He's our Percy Harvin in a way.
that being said...he doesn't warrant 8. Pierre doesn't warrant getting paid 7.
I'd have to agree....Pierre, get another agent.

No way we should give Pierre Thomas that kind of money,
He is a solid, competent but average player.

A) this is a rumor not fact that he wants $7m
B) Even if it is true, I'd wager it's the high I know we won't get it but that's where we need to start negotiations at price point.
If this is something PT and his agent won't come down off of, forget the long term deal, make him play for the 1 year tender and deal with this next year whether by letting him go, working out a deal, franchise tag whatever.

Bottom line:
Steven Jackson is the Rams offense
Pierre Thomas will never be that valuable as long as Sean Payton and Drew Brees are here!
Sorry Pierre, Love your vision and balance, but in my opinion 4 to 5 million is a stretch...
Bush is vital b/c of his versatility/match-up issues yet he isn't even worth that! (when his contract expires) Bush will take a pay cut OR walk!

PT is quite a bit above average, he just had durability concerns and plays a plug and play position.

Len Pastabelli is a turd, but he gets legit scoops no one else does. He's buddy buddy with a lot of agents and talks up the players they represent during the regular season in exchange for info. Of course no one will give him the $7m a year, but someone could certainly pay more than we're willing and Pastabelli could be putting this out there for PT's agent to try to get other teams involved.

Weird ploy to get other teams involved by leaking exuberant salary demands.

Everyone knows he won't get that, though. The key is letting other teams know that the Saints and PT are having difficulty agreeing, and it will encourage other teams to ask the Saints for permission to talk to PT.

i actually think it's more of pierre wants to make up for being underpaid the past couple of seasons.
i know it isn't suppose to work like that.. but his family and friends have always felt he should get paid. (who's friends and family doesn't?) but still. deep down he's probably felt underpaid. he should be really happy if he gets around 5 mill a yr.

He should do fricking cartwheels if the Saints give him $5 mill a year.

Lendale White is available.

If petey thinks White is done then that says a lot

I like him as a player but that is asking a little much...next season show potential for a 1,000 yard season with no letting off the gas, then talk about that amount.

I was afraid of this,I've said all along the guy brings a lot to the table but he's not a feature back.Let him try and get half that elsewhere in the league.
Posted on 5/28/10 at 5:25 pm to redfish99
lots of teams would pay him...3.5 per year. Saints would in fact!
Posted on 5/28/10 at 5:54 pm to LAfootballDude
he is going to get a 4-5 million a year contract.

i thought 4 million would be very fair as well.

Loomis gives clowns like Grant, and McCray big contracts they don't deserve and the hardworkers like Sharper and this kid he tries to screw.
