I am going to use your same logic about preseason stats....

Northern Iowa has subpar talent. All those dudes are bagging groceries or serving 5-10 right now.

You don’t have to use logic. Warner was boxed out of the league for that very reason. It doesn’t change the fact that he was good and hill isn’t

Are you attempting to argue that preseason stats are trash? You realize 59% of preseason roster doesn’t make an NFL team? It’s absurd to try and draw anything from it

Maybe you can tell me what happened to these guys since Chad doesn’t want to address it

Chad Kelly, Ryan Finley, Nathan Peterman
Kyle Sloter, EJ Manuel, Matt McGoin
Josh Johnson, Landry Jones, Colt McCoy
Tyler Heinecke, Matt Simms

Chad Kelly and Josh johnson. There's also laundry list of out of the NFL QBs who could run for 900 if they were given the chance. Better runners than Hill.

But this is good, we are getting closer to you realizing he's a great runner and not a passer.

Hill ran for 1300 yards his sophmore year in 13 games. He also completed 54% of his passes with 19 TD to 14 INT. This is how you think we can win games.

Why are you forecasting BYU play from like 7 years ago and we can't discuss preseason play in the system he is in now playing nfl ball?

kelly and johnson running 900 yards in 2020? GTFOH

Says the poster saying with confidence that a guy with a small handful of career passes (all with lining up as a wildcat QB) can throw for about 4K yards. Oh and also run for at least 800 yards even though no QB in the history of league has ever done both.

What most of us are trying to say is Hill is an unknown QB. He may be a starter but chances are he most likely will never be. What people like you are saying is outlandish. Acting like you know that a QB with a career 119 passing yards is going to be not only be a starter, but a pretty good one at that.

You don't get brownie points for this. We as Saints fans have watched him grow for 3 seasons now. I don't have to know anything. You don't know anything. I can certainly think. This is a message board that thrives on opinions. Your tight arse spinchter has no faith in what Taysom can be. That's cool. You are what you are.

Nowhere did I say you can’t say it. I said your opinion is outlandish. The opinion that he likely won’t be a starter is a realistic one. His “growth” still amounts to 119 passing yards. You’re trying to extrapolate from like 4 good passes he’s made. All those passes coming from a wildcat QB in which defenses are fully expecting a run. Plays in which he doesn’t have to really read the defense or go through his progressions.

But outlandish opinions from you are not surprising though.

See, you're trying to have an intelligent opinion yet you sit here and type wrong shite over and over and reiterate meaningless points that prove nothing. "wildcat" qb... "doesn't have to go through progessions"... you are making up bullshite which fits your simple minded brain.

Almost every single time Hill is put out there, it’s a running play. Either it’s a read option or he drops back to throw but immediately runs. How’s that not a wildcat QB? Defenses are mostly expecting a run when he’s in there. That’s after all, why we use him.

And you really think he’s going through progressions and reading defenses a whole lot? How often has he stayed in the backfield for a decent amount of time. He usually gets the snap, sees if his no.1 is open, and takes off and runs. Most of his throws have been short passes or to wide open guys. I’m not saying he never goes through his progressions, but how many plays has he done that? Like 5? You want to base his “growth as a passer” off that?

Once again doesn’t change the fact he has a 119 career passing yards. Saying a guy with that many yards is likely to be a good NFL starting QB is an outlandish statement.

He's evolved quickly. I don't think you've paid close attention.

I don’t think you realize this “evolution” consists of less than 10 plays. Because the vast majority of the time he’s out there at QB, it’s a running play. That’s a fact. That’s why we bring him in. And not every time he drops back to throw, does he actually throw. My point was defenses are mostly expecting a run when he’s lined up at QB. Him dropping back to throw and actually throwing are rare instances.

Wait you think Chad Kelly and Josh Johnson are the same runner as taysom hill, or did I read that wrong?

i praised hill’s rushing ability a few times in this thread so it’s probably you’re reading

It’s a tongue in cheek answer to his question on who could get 900 yards

Considering there’s been 2 QBs ever to hit that mark. And Hill would have to run like 200 times to get there. Which means he’s a terrible passer. Which means he’d probably get hurt.
