Peterson says he's never played on a team that they didn't stack the box against him.

Not even with Favre.

Peterson interview

quote:

When you look back over your career, even dating back to college, can you remember when you had the opportunity to play on a team like this?

"I can't remember. It's funny you say that because the first thing that came to my mind was in 2009 when Brett Favre was there. As the season went on, I thought it was a fluke the first couple of weeks, because they continued to stack the box. They put eight men in the box and week by week it pretty much kind of stayed the same. I am looking forward to that not being the situation this go around."

Also explains why Favre had such a great year that year, despite having obviously slowed down a few years before.

So big respect to Peterson or disrespect to an old Favre? (that team's would do that)

The same could happen but I doubt it. I think those roles will be reversed here. AP was the young gun there and Favre was the old vet that no one thought had it anymore. I could see teams still respecting Brees and giving AP running room early.

I think teams will gameplan like he's done until he starts producing and then they might stack the box.

Just the vibe that he's given off in all these interviews indicates that he is 100% and ready to go with plenty left in the tank. This offense is going to destroy the league if he gives us close to a full season

Our best formation this year will be 3WRs, AP in the backfield, and Kamara in the slot.

Thomas, Snead, Ginn, Kamara, and Peterson. That is a lot of firepower.

Still have Ingram and Fleener to sub in. Would like one more WR for insurance.

Add to this our best line in a few years and defense just needs to get to top 20 and we will make the playoffs.

Who knows but he threw for the second highest total of his career in 2009 with over 4,200 yards.

Agreed. And Victor Cruz is still available. If he is over the injury bug, he would provide some good depth.

This is the main reason I'm hyped for this season. We are two dimensional on offense. Defenses are going to have to pick their poison.

Don't forget Travin Dural. Has great potential working with a QB like Brees

I don't think he makes the roster honestly. Maybe the practice squad. Payton likes either really big red zone target receivers with or speedy ones that can work the slot. Dural isn't fastest and not very big. He would have to ball out in camp so maybe

If Dural is given great medical care (and maybe a trip to Germany for some stem cell treatments) he can be our speed WR next year if we let Ginn walk.

He did not play like a 4.5 guy when he was consistently burning DB's for 60+ yard TD's. fricking Brandon harris' high ball fricked TD's last year as a Tiger. I feel bad for the kid. He was a day two pick at the latest if he never gets injured trying to bring in the 14' high endzone pass.

"Ingram to sub in".

Y'all wish so much for him to just lay down and let Peterson take over.

Yeah I noticed that too. Ingram is the starter, guys. Deal with it.

He might make Ingram look slow and lazy.

Or he will make Ingram turn into crazy Ingram. When Ingram is pushed he looks incredible.
