Thoughts?

Anybody actually care since SP is obviously the one in charge of the offense?

WTF!!! I like Sean Payton as our OC. He is a good offensive coach and wouldn't be surprised if payton still calls they plays.

It's a good idea. Hopefully this will free Payton up a bit to focus on his challenges and trick play strategies - because quite frankly they've been horrible the past 2 seasons. I think he's had too much on his plate on gamedays.

Excellent move, also he has been Drew's QB Coach since Drew got into the NFL. He was offered the Miami OC job last year and I was surpriesed he didn't take it. Great young coach who is working his way up the ladder

I don't think Payton will quit calling plays, or change his duties at all.

This is true, Payton has already come out and said as much......Doug Marrone was the "offensive coordinator" this year, and I don't think anyone quite knew what his responsibilities were.

Pete Carmichael came from San Diego with Drew Brees basically. Turned down an opportunity to be the O coordinator at Miami last year. He's been a significant part of Drew's success and its a no brainer move.

Pete Carmichael will be an NFL head coach in the near future. Mark my words.

Carmichael never turned down Miami, the Saints had him on contract and wouldn't let him leave

A coach can get out of a contract easily believe me.

Carmicheal never turned down Miami, I don't think they offered him the job. They just had a strong interest and interviewed him.

Carmichael, a rising young offensive mind, has been the Saints' quarterbacks coach since he joined Payton's staff in 2006. He twice turned down opportunities to leave for an offensive coordinator job with the Miami Dolphins (first under Cam Cameron, then under Tony Sparano), so he could continue working with Payton and quarterback Drew Brees.

He can still give a no thank you, i'm not interested before the job is fully offered.
