Watching this, I am more convinced than ever that Payton is going to be kicking arse and taking names.
I didn't really know what to expect, but he sounds sharp, and welcoming to the challenge ahead.
Kromer and Vitt did their best, but I forgot how damn good this guy is in an interview. He's smart as shite, very thoughtful in his responses, and he really listens to the questions asked, and actually answers the specific call of the question.
You can tell he also really sees the big picture and every answer he has given is showing that.
I think we're about to embark on a hell of a run in 2013

Sean Payton runs circles around all the other coaches combined. So glad he is back.

He is definitely NOT happy with how the defense performed.

You can tell he got a little fired up at that question.
One of the only brief responses he gave and actually kind of cut the reporter off before he even finished the question, and he didn't do that for any other question that I remember.
Very telling.

Seriously. Don't cut away from his press conference. Like we give a shite what you have to say.

I switched to WWL radio.
Says he will get a chance to meet with Brees when he gets back from Hawaii.

Says he doesn't think the holdout had any effect on Drew's performance.
Compared it to the lockout in 2011 and said it didn't change his play then either.
Brought up the defense again, but also REALLY pointing out the lack of running game on the team's struggles this year.
Mentioned 06 and 09 being top 10 run teams as key to our success.

I think you're going to see a shift towards giving Ingram way more carries. Just a hunch.

Yeah I hope he doesn't go too far in that direction.
PT is still the key to our running game, with Sproles being #2.
Both of those guys are also the key to our screen game that was so sorely lacking in 2012.
Ingram improved as the year went on, but I'm not ready to see him phasing PT out.

Is that John L Smith behind Payton?

I thought of you and this when he said the meeting would be painful.
