Would be a nice weapon for the saints offense. Last year stats were 44 catches 703 yards 6 tds. That’s solid stats for a team that could barely throw the ball cause they had no oline.

He wants $7 million/year. I don't think that's gonna happen here.

Stud of a deep threat with a serious motor, and absolutely legit hands in traffic. $7 mill seems pretty steep to me. Given Drew’s age, this is one of those signings where I’m content with going the old Loomis way and signing him to a 4 year 28 million dollar deal with a decent bit of guaranteed money with around an 8- 12 million dollar signing bonus that we can prorate over the deal to make the deal cap friendly early on. I think he could really be something special with what we have.

The saints could theoretically offer more guaranteed money and get that number closer to 5M. He would thrive on this team.

If they go for a WR, it will be a slot guy if Willie Snead doesn't return. Ted Ginn is already the #2 receiver and deep threat on this team. He is making about 4.5mil/yr. It will seem redundant to bring in Paul Richardson at his asking price.

What would he be though - WR4?

WR1: Thomas
WR2: Ginn
WR3 (slot): Snead

Snead isn’t a given to make the team at this point. Personally I think Snead is the better bargain but he obviously pissed some higher ups off last year.

If by pissed you mean he was slow and out of shape then yes.

I hope he had a great off season fwiw.

I would bet he will be ready for this season. He has proven he can play the slot well in the prior years.

We need someone besides Ginn to provide a legit deep threat. All a defense has to do is make sure Ginn doesn't beat you deep, & then suffocate the rest of our receivers. That happened to us many times last year (the Bears game was a perfect example of that). We need to get Ginn some help so the Safeties will back the frick up & open up the middle of the field. That would complete our offense imo.

Mike Thomas will turn some of those short/intermediate passes into big gains if he doesn't have a Safety playing so close & cheating up.

I'm not down on him. It's the notion that he is going to be cheap is what i disagree with. Saints fans keep acting like they are the only people that have heard of the guy. A desperate team like BALT or SF is going to pay this man
