I could fap to that but I still think Anzalone should play as well. He made some plays last year. If we have a weakness on this team it’s def LB. it’s a good thing we got Davis or it would be a real concern instead of just a worry

Yeah I flip flopped all of them, but the point is I just like that front 7 and hope teams play a lot of base and 3 wide.

I'm a lot more confident in base and nickel than dime.

We dont have a pass rushing LB and we run a 4-2-5 base with an occasional 4-3

We switch, but we mainly run a 4-3. I see a lot of nickel happening this year though.

This is assuming Anzalone can stay healthy

LAst night we ran Davis weakside, Anzalone Mike Klein strong.

Of the 3 I feel like Davis in the will has been most consistently done throughout the preseason, it seems like they like him there a lot. Klein playing the strong side makes sense because it gets his arse off the field for nickel situations.

I don't really understand why Anzalone and Davis seemingly switched positions. Last season Davis played Mike Anzalone played Will, but they have it flipped this season, which I can only assume has something to do with who is calling the plays. If this is the final lineup, I feel like this will be the 4th or 5th straight season we have had a different player calling our defensive plays. Hopefully we can find one that sticks

The Mike doesn't have to call the plays. Some teams use the Will because he'll play and nickel and be the lone LB in dim for them.

We used the Sam/Mike last year (Klein was Sam in base and Mike in nickel).

This year I honestly have no clue how it'll shake out because they seem fricking clueless themselves as to who will play and who will play where.

I think last night's lineup was a last ditch effort to try out a new starting group. The problem is I believe Klein has been in every starting group (as has Davis) even if it wasn't every play.

It's easy to see a consistent theme. First Team D struggles against the run and short passes. Hendrickson played most first team snaps at DE with Oak out (only mentioning because he was a big part of the run d struggles). Klein and Davis have played most first team snaps at LB. Obviously either these players are playing out of position or just don't deserve to be on the field (Klein).
