Texans won;t sign any free agents that protested and the Dolphins are telling their players to stand.

It's happening

The Saints knelt before the anthem right? Did any of them every kneel during?

I want to preface this by saying that I believe everyone should stand for the anthem and I wish players would find a different avenue to protest.

But could this lead to potential legal issues? In our lawsuit happy society, I could see discriminatory issues rising by not hiring someone based on political views (or something of that nature).

Who the hell cares? Anyone who gets bent out of shape about this crap probably needs to be watching soccer anyways.

Owners would argue that it was conduct detrimental to the league. If any judge found it that to be illegal discrimination, then it would open up a whole new can of worms. Think about anyone whose ever been fired for saying something racist, or hateful. They would now have cause to bring suit.

We have free speech, but there are ramifications to what you say. Employees should realize that

I think most of us have no interest in putting any effort into this tired topic that, on the surface, looks like it has nothing to do with the Saints.

Texans issued a statement denying the report, so it may not be happeneing. With the owners comments it is an easy narrative to run with whether it is true or not.

Finally:

In fact, Solomon passes along that there are "many who believe if McNair could field a team with all-white, all-conforming all-pro talent, he would."

Bob McNair is the Texans owner. After reading that, if I was a non white player I'd definitely not sign there, even if they offered crazy bucks. Hell as a white guy I'd still not sign there, but I'd definitely question the integrity of any man of "color" that signs there while he is owner.

Why do we have the national anthem at sporting events anyway? When did it begin? What is the purpose?

Why don’t we have it before movies or concerts? Why don’t we sing it before breakfast?

I hope so. They aren’t doing anything against the rules and it’s not hurting anything except the feelings of the snowflakes who boycotted the nfl.

I love how people who are angry about this and claimed to quit watching are still in fact watching and following the team.
