Is they let people go when the price isn't right. We need to be careful how much we pay Ingram. If we can get him relatively cheap on a 1-2 deal, do it. If he wants to get paid big money on a 3-4 year deal, let em walk. He's almost 30. His YPC has gone down 3 straight years. Be careful here... I'd much rather get Tate or a proven WR.

Yeah it is obvious, but lots here get mad at the suggestion of letting Ingram walk.

Patriots are the best in the NFL regarding this.

So who do you replace Ingram with? Yea it’s fine and dandy to say things like oh the Pats let guys walk all the time, but they also have players to replace that production.

Everyone saw what happened without Ingram the first four weeks and it cost Kamara on the back half of the schedule. Be careful what you wise for.

Its true....they aren't a slave to the salary cap. However, i think Ingram should be gone for the sake of the club. He's going to want top 10 RB pay and we cannot afford to pay that when Drew's salaray cap hit lands this year. Replace Ingram with a Carlos Hyde type bench guy that is a dual threat like Kamara so there is some depth. Is it better to have both on team? OF course, but when there are so many other needs and Drew's cap hit, it's a business and needs to be approached that way.

Sean needs to adjust to having the "hybrid" RB on the field at all times so that Defenses have a harder time guessing if its a run play up middle or pass to RB. Put in Ingram, and the offense can become more "predictable".

They have a great owner, GOAT head coach, and a great OC. It's no accident they have so many Super Bowl rings.

What the Patriots have done (are still doing) is completely unprecedented in professional football. It's never been done before and will probably never be done again. Comparing ourselves to that is a fool's game. All that matters is can the Saints be consistently relevant and consistently compete at a high level for playoff wins and championships. We're never going to be the Patriots, but we can be Green Bay, or the Giants, or the Steelers.... consistent periods of relevance with down years in between. I'm OK with that.

Well obviously, but we can learn from them and how smart mlb teams handle contracts... don't pay for past performance.

Yup, it helps they have such a cakewalk to the playoffs..

Then they just have to win 2 games because of the bye.

They win and lose a lot of Super Bowls because they can always get there.

Sure, but that's not the tenor of most comments on here... most of the time it's more like "Loomis sucks because he can't deliver Patriots results!"

They cheat.

Filming practices

Deflating balls

Using PEDs

Etc...

If one team has been caught with all those scandals imagine what they haven't been caught for.

The Saints are not the Patriots. The Saints are the Saints.

The Saints need to keep Ingram. I'm not saying the Saints need to break the bank for him, but keeping him on this team and in that locker room is very important to team success.

This reminds me somewhat of the quote from Moneyball,

“If we play like the Yankees in here, we will lose to the Yankees out there”

There’s more than one way to successfully put together a team. The Patriots have their culture and approach, and that works for them.
Ingram has tremendous value on this team. Not only because of what he means to the offense, but also what he means as a teammate. When teams don’t treat core guys like Ingram with meaning or respect in situations like this, I don’t think the Kamaras, MTs, and Lattimores of the locker room look to fondly on that. I’m not saying we should over pay him because of that, I’m just saying if we do end up parting ways, I hope management is careful of the way they go about it. Wouldn’t want to ruffle feathers of other guys who may not like the message it sends to just let him go.
With all that said, I have a feeling he will be back for another shot at the Super Bowl.

What works for them is that the best player in the league, at the highest paid position in the league, happens to be married to a super model, and takes less money that he could easily get in free agency.

Not to mention, they play in an awful division. That helps too.
