I think Ivory has trade value. Possibly a 5th, more likely a 6th round pick. At that point I think they bring in an UFA to battle with Cadet and a couple other guys for the fourth spot.

Assuming of course they are freeing up some room for Nnamdi and Butler

You guys are reading my mind. I would never think of trading up with our limited picks before, but if we sign Butler and Nnamdi, I'd be 100% ok with moving up to grab Johnson.

After reading this from the other post:
Outside linebacker Victor Butler -- The typical starting 3-4 rush linebacker plays roughly 1,000 snaps per year. Buried behind DeMarcus Ware and Anthony Spencer in Dallas, Butler has played 803 career snaps across four seasons, per Pro Football Focus. He's efficiently parlayed them into 11 sacks and four forced fumbles. Just 26, potential hidden gem Butler has been pursued by the Steelers and Jets. He really wants to reunite with Rob Ryan in New Orleans.

I think he is a lock for us!

Not sure i'd give up Ivory for the hope that Nnamdi can actually still play and isn't just old and washed up.

Agreed. No shot a team gives a 2nd for a RB with an injury history and limited resume that Ivory has, but a 5th/6th is possible.

Butler also played with keenan lewis at oregon didnt he? If so this might help our chances a little.

Yeah, it's a risk but one I'd be okay with.

Nnamdi is only 31, while old, he's not Charles Woodson old (36).

If they do sign Nnamdi and Butler (already getting Lewis and a 2nd TE), and they trade up to get a great LT, I will be in heaven. Use the remaining few picks for a WR, depth at O-line, or a DT and this team can be good enough on Defense to make a deep run in the playoffs.

We'd have to jump SD at 11 if we want Lane Johnson. That would cost too much, IMO, especially being up against the cap for the next few years and needing as many good, cheap players as possible.

Why would Nnamdi hinge his deal on Butler?

I LOVE Ivory, but if we're planning to use him in the same capacity as the last few years, I'd rather get the cap space and get a late rounder/udfa for his spot.

I am a BIG Ivory fan too but it is crazy to have 5 running backs and be paying 4 pretty good money... Could be use on defense in my opinion.

I just don't see us taking an OT in the first round. We don't like paying OT big money, so it doesn't make a whole lot of sense to draft a guy knowing if he works out we will release him in a few years because he will cost too much.

We do need to protect our prize possession though. By the time the OT contract is up, Breezy will be getting to that age...

Huh? They're not going to pass on a guy they like because they're worried that he'll cost bank SIX YEARS FROM NOW. Plus they extended Bushrod a few years ago.
