EJ Manuel had 51 scholarship offers. It came down to Oregon and Florida State. He chose FSU because they had better-looking cheerleaders

his mind was in the right place I guess... maybe

We won a Super Bowl with a DL that couldn't get to the QB without blitzing every other down. We had a great Safety that disrupted WR'S. Maybe Vaccaro can do that.

So this is the elusive year that Tez finally breaks out? How many years in a row has that been said.

"Vaccaro will be a fun toy for a defensive coordinator to play with. He'll fit well in defenses that have interchangeable safety positions and like to use safeties on the blitz. He'll have some duties as a nickel corner and provide flexibility in personnel sets."

On the whole, Vaccaro's skill set and demonstrated range of abilities are the best in this safety class.

Can we keep Harper and ditch Jenkins? I think Harper will have a solid year in Ryan's defense.

Very good point. I can see both Vaccaro and Jenkins being interchangeable. I have to imagine there will be a lot of presnap movements between our safeties this season.

I trust the Steelers picking defensive players over the Saints picking defensive players and Steelers rejoiced that we passed on Jones.

Then, Dallas - in need of safety - would have taken Vaccaro at 18, trades to SF (a better fricking team) to get S Reid.

We were better off letting Dallas move up 3 spots to get Vaccaro, let Steelers take Jones and Saints get Floyd and a 3rd rounder.

I can't imagine what it's like to be in that green room and see pick after pick after pick go by and not get the call

esp as the 1st round nears its end

Watching Jones play the last 2 years in the SEC, he was often the best player on the field. Those guys (NFL front office folks) obviously know more than I do... I'm curious about what turned them off. If it's just his poor combine / pro-day, there will be some big regrets from most of the teams that passed on him. Could it be off-the-field stuff? Work ethic?
