Not upset by the loss, but concerned about the playoffs

Hard fought game, down-to-the-wire, trading punches, against a very talented divisional opponent, in their house, fighting for their lives.
Sucks we had injuries to major contributors, ticky-tack penalties on crucial downs, and a bad ill-timed Brees INT. But it's not sudden death.
My main concern is the improbability of staying healthy for a 4-game playoff/SB stretch. Our depth is thinner than I thought.
We lucked up in 2009 when we got major stars back healthy for a 3 game stretch that included two extra weeks off to get healthy (a first round bye and a pre-SB week bye).
But this year, major stars at every position (except QB & WR) seem to be rotating in/out with injuries each & every week.
How do the Saints stay healthy & survive 3 straight tough games (two will definitely be on the road) and then a 4th game against the AFC champion? The odds scare me.

Plain and simple, we needed this win.

Look up
That's the Saints leading the division.

This was basically a playoff game for Atlanta and we wouldve won if it werent for a few bad calls despite the injuries. Team fought through the injuries on the road on a Thursday night vs a good team that was desperate. Every team needs to stay healthy in the playoffs to win a Super Bowl, its the NFL.

At this point, might as well win the division in two weeks and rest up from there. Sit every one who has missed time the last week.

Not really.
We're going to win our next two games, then get a "bye" week vs TB.
If we go into the playoffs with our secondary and OL healthy, then I think we're 50/50 to beat each of of Minn and Philly on the road.
I think that even our own fans are overlooking how good this team is. The Okafor injury was big, but we still haven't seen all of the other key players from that 8-0 run. Get a home game in the playoffs with those players (sans Oak) and we're going to make noise in the playoffs.
Don't overlook that we're 9-4 after a pretty brutal schedule. We're in the best division in football and we're going to win it.

Just need to get healthy and we will be fine!!

How can you not be upset? This is the END OF THE WORLD!!!!!
Nah but seriously, we gonna skull frick the rest of the schedule. They need to get Snead more involved, maybe see if Tapp still available for depth, and use our TEs for blocking only.

The refs and luck (with so many key Saints injuries) + being on the road gave the Falcons so many favors, and it the game was decided by the only bad decision Brees had all night. The inferior team won tonight. The Saints will be fine.

We lost Kamara for however long, Hendrickson, Klein, Vaccaro, possibly Ginn once they look at him. Kekemete maybe, too.
Without them, we're probably dead in the water. If we go to OT, you're risking pushing Lattimore more, and he was on thin ice already. He might have been the next to drop.
We have 10 days to get healthier, and then 3 pretty easy games. Win out and tonight doesn't matter for the division.
Payton had the tie in his hand and didn't want OT. He had the ball in FG range and facing 4th down, and chose to go for it instead. At that moment, it was clear- this game was going to end in regulation, win or lose, and he was getting out of Atlanta with as much of his team intact as he could. The outcome was secondary to him; a W would have been nice, but it wasn't his biggest concern at the end of the game.

I thin we beat the Falcons @ home, but they are definitely capable of coming to the dome and winning.

Well, obviously, but that's the point of my OP.
We've been saying this every week latey.
I don't think we've had Lattimore, Kamara, Armstead, Klein, Vacarro, Peat, Crawley, Fleener (and Okafor) all on the field at the same time since the Bills game.
Sure, when we are healthy, we dominate. But what are the odds of having all our stars & starters go unscathed for 3 straight games against tough playoff teams?

And they're very capable of losing to the Panthers. I think that we win the next two and have a pre-playoffs bye. The good thing is that the Eagles, Rams, and Vikings may be fighting for a bye in week 17 while we see if Taysom Hill can throw a go route to Jamie Lee Lewis.

Yeah I'm liking the idea more & more of securing our division & sitting our stars (& as many of our starters that we can) against TB.
It's about the only option we have left to choose from, besides crossing fingers & toes.

In all honesty, I thought we would drop this game on the road on a short week before the game was played.
Shitty officiating, seemingly record-setting injuries, and a brain fart on second down on that last offensive drive cost us a game that we very well could’ve won.
This was an ODD game, and further proof that these Thursday games do more harm than good.

I was thinking that about Snead all year. But the one play today where he got his hands on the ball he looked terrible. Dude just isn't athletic and losing Cooks means someone actually covers him.

I agree and so are the Jets. I'm not taking these games for granted like it seems the rest of the fan base are. We really need to win them, but it's never easy. Luke McCown is playing very well, better hope Kamara is back
