What part of losing your top 2 DLMEN and run stoppers
don`t ya`ll understand.You win at the LOS,without DB
scoring 30 ppg our opponents will be able to control
the clock and be able to run the ball. The pressure on
JW OR TH is going to be incredible. Unless payton can
replace Brown or Rankins with like kind 6-8 wins is max.

Bad QB plays was a reason we sucked in the playoffs the last two years.

Bad defense? I've been a known hater of the defense but they've been a huge reason for our success the past two years. I expect that to continue.

The D-line was top 5 vs the run without Rankins after his year long absence.

We still have 3 of the four starters that began the season last year. Certainly Brown will be almost impossible to replace but Shy Tuttle may be able to do a good job next to Ony.

Yeah, it's great when you make it to the playoffs only to realize your QB can't throw a pass over 15 yards.

So fulfilling...

I don’t disagree but it’s hard to say that his play was “ugly” for the past few years with those numbers.

I’m struggling to understand where all these sky is falling types think our defense will be bad. We just came off a top 5 season and are retaining most of the core

If anything, the offense and punter are the question marks

The sky is falling types just look at the losses on the defense (Malcom Brown, Rankins, Hendrickson, Kwon, Anzalone, & Jack Rabbit) & assume that we won't be able to adequately replace them.

We should be just fine if we can find a starting LB next to Davis, & also a #2 CB to replace Jack Rabbit. The FO has basically let the cat out of the bag that we're actively searching for that #2 CB as well.

We need another run stopping DT to rotate with Shy Tuttle, but those are easy to find. They're cheap in free agency & you can find 1 in rounds 3-5 in the draft. As far as Rankins...he was average at best last year. He's not really a huge loss.

We still need to add some pieces, but this will be a good defense next year imo. After we get our #2 CB & add some cheap depth to the D-Line...we'll be very deep on the D-Line & Secondary again.

Yeah it's easy to replace defensive players that's why the saints are a top 5 defense year in and out.

We've had a good to great defense every year since Ireland got here & Dennis Allen as DC...basically 2017-2020.

The only thing that has ever made this defense average has been injuries during that time period. When we're healthy...we're damn good.

We've been great at drafting & adding free agents to the defense for the last 4 years. If something happens 4 years in a row...the smart thing to do is assume it will happen 5 years in a row. We did lose Terry Fontenot though & he was in charge of Free Agents, so hopefully we can not lose a beat without him.

I can see why you're skeptical, but you may have a different opinion after the draft is over & we've added a few free agents.

Look, not to be pessimistic, but I think we will surely take a step back. We have lost not only depth at each level of the defense, but we have lost starters as well. We wont be outright bad, but with so many losses, a step back is inevitable
