NFL ponders playoff seeding without playing Bills-Bengals

One possibility would be to add an eighth team to the playoff field in the AFC. This would eliminate the bye for the No. 1 seed.

To ensure competitive balance, there would have to be eight teams in the NFC, too.

We would beat Carolina and every single team ahead of us vying for the 8th seed would win big.

So we would need to win and Seattle and Washington would need to lose? I think we get in over the loser of GB-Detroit no matter who it is.

I think we'd need the Lions to lose too

We would need Green Bay to beat the Lions. Regardless of who loses we would both be 8-9 overall/ 6-6 conference so tie breaker goes to win % vs common opponents

If end up tied with GB they are 3-2 vs mutual opponents where as we are 2-4

If we end up tied with the Lions we are 3-3 vs mutual opponents whereas they are 1-4

Keys to Saints making playoff if it goes to 8 teams:

Saints beat Carolina
Rams beat Seahawks
Cowboys beat Redskins
GB beats Detroit

Unfricking believable. I hope it happens and I hope the Superbowl is both 8 seeds for maximum chaos

I can imagine the note Roger sends to the refs concerning our 8th seed chances to win a game in the playoffs...

I just don’t see the Rams beating the Seahawks in Seattle. They’re awful
