im tired of these pussy motherfrickers that say the other team should have a chance, screw that, the other team couldnt stop dhit, they dont deserve a chance. you sound like the dumbass high school coach crying about the score being run up.

You contradict yourself. You are against the NFL way because it faults teams that have a bad defense, but are for the college way even though it can fault teams for having a good defense.
How does the college way fault teams for having a good defense? Defense is still important in college OT, just not interception returns that aren't TDs.

I wonder what the impact on regular time play would be if the NFL didn't have overtime and ended games in ties. I think that it would make for some really exciting football at the end of games.
Teams who are up by 7 or 3 and on defense at the end of the game would play much more aggressively rather than dropping into prevent
Offenses for teams that are winning might go for it on fourth down more often instead of punting and hoping for defensive stop.
I just think it would really improve the quality of football at the end of close games and then we wouldn't have to be pissed off about coin tosses.

College way is BS because teams start in field goal range. I think the college system would be fun if they didn't allow field goals...only touchdowns...and make them start at midfield.

People keep saying this but I don't understand why it's so bad. Yes, you start in field goal range, but you don't want a field goal! The only way I could see it as a bad thing is if a team misses a field goal or turns the ball over and scores 0 points, the other team only has to kick a field goal on its first play to win. Midfield would be better, but I suspect this would likely make the game take too long.

Cause you are already in field goal range. The team might have built their team around d and not have a good offense. I only say this because you're saying NFL isn't fair if a team doesn't have a good defense.

You just answered your own question. In college, the team going first also only has 3 downs to pick up a first down because they have to put points on the board, whereas the team going second has 4 if the other team has a touchdown. The sheer number of college games that go into double and triple overtime should tell them that the system is flawed.
Lastly, the fact that college overtime most resembles soccer free kicks or whatever they call it should tell you that it's lame.

Here's the simplified, fairest way to run NFL overtimes:
Keep everything the same way, but first team to score 4 points in OT wins. Problem solved.

Both formats suck, but the college format sucks more.
Why change the game for OT? There is no punting or kickoffs.
My solution is to adopt the pro format BUT each team gets the same number of possessions.
You score first, you kickoff and see if you can hold.

The NFL could go to one possession each, followed by sudden death.
The only problem with this is that each team will go for it on 4th down every time on the 1st possession. Why wouldn't they? That's not really how the game was played the previous 4 quarters.
If they keep it sudden death, I think they should do 2 things......1) Just start the team at the 20. The recieveing team has a field position advantage because they kickoff further from the goal line these days, and 2) Eliminate the coin toss. Reward the team with the better game statistics with the ball first.

No overtime until the playoffs.

Would rather have no overtime than the way it is now. Play 4 qts. Whatever the score, it's final. Sounds fair
You would see some big changes in end game strategy.

Can't beat NFL OT rules. Odds are even and the games don't last six hours.
