Lets restructure two keys pieces of the problem.
I would hardly call them the biggest keys to the problem. shite they were suspended for part of the season and offseason during a scheme change.

I dunt think that's true. At all. You got a link?

About to lose the guy that protects the franchise.
Who?

About to lose the franchise's backup.
You talking about Daniel? Did anyone realistically think he would ever start here as anything more than a place holder? Any doubt we will draft someone to replace Brees when the time comes?

In Loomis we trust though, right?
Correct. I trust him.

Must be nice to have an owner so loyal, and too old to understand how much money the GM is blowing.
Do you know the difference between the restructured deal versus the penalty for early termination. Or the effect of cutting two team leaders and lockerroom impact players?

Charlie Brown looked better when he got his chances last year. But that was at right tackle. But then he got hurt again...

I can't believe anyone would be that upset that they let Bushrod get overpaid somewhere. I mean, the Saints drafted him, he helped win a Super Bowl and I like the guy, but COME ON.

Its not a reaction to bountygate, its just a timeline for when his nuts left my mouth.

Let me guess...you are pissed about the eavesdropping thing too?

Bushrod is terrible and needed help all the time because he was beat routinely. We'll be fine with a stop gap veteran for a year or two.
This. Bushrod is going to be overpaid by someone.

can you name another safety combo that's worse?

That makes no sense that's a terrible timeline...

Im just saying there are really good teams, teams on the Saints' level, that aren't fricked cap-wise every year like we are.
It would be really sweet if our "money guy" GM, was actually better with the money.
Honestly, what are the chances a player like Roman Harper would've stuck on a Belichick-led team this long? Zero chance. Smith, Vilma, and Shanle would've been 2 years ago.

No doubt we have kept players longer than needed but the main thing those teams have going for them is great defensive minded coaches...every NFL player is overpaid and Brady makes Brees money... Defense going along with high paid players goes a long way...saints need a good defensive coordinator and better defensive scouts its that simple...the thing that isn't so simple is finding those guys

You can prove your own accusations. I dont follow the rest of the league nearly as close as I follow the nfc south. And I'm not just going to accept a claim like that. I think our safteys are our last concern. Lbs and dline are waaaaaaaay more important to address right now

My concern about keeping these guy on his next year when we cut them we will take a cap hit...I would rather get it out of the way now and free up a ton of money next year.

I would be all for bringing in an Ed Reed or other veteran FS and moving Jenkins back to corner.

Belichick-
One of the best head coaches ever. Tough to compare ourselves to him. And he has much more experience. And the hate for Harper on this board is so obnoxiously over blown and misplaced.
This team builds it's offense first. Defense is second fiddle. That said, we have like 7 first round picks on the fricking field. We suck at scouting defense.

I'm for this as well. At least in a couple of packages. See how he handles the position he's meant to play

It will actually save us more money next season to cut any of those three than we would have saved this season and I'm sure that was a part of the decision

He was very promising in 09.

Jenkins was pretty damn good at Corner his rookie/super bowl year. Move him back.

RapSheet: Source: Elvis Dumervil is now willing to take a pay cut. His side has exchanged a proposal with the Broncos, hasn't heard back since 4
