If Carr misses a game it's basically declaring we forfeit. Which isn't the worse thing because we could finally purge.

Taysom needs to be wildcat qb guy/backup qb. Peterman needs to be 3rd guy on the bench never see the field guy.

there were better options than nathan fricking peterman for the league min.

He will follow orders and kneel down properly.

this also smells like "we can still draft someone" type signing.

Considering Carr gets hurt every game, it’s kind of a big deal

Practice Squad body and designated emergency QB. Hopefully Haener beats him out to be QB2.5 along with Taysom playing the QB2 role.

Perhaps this is a sign that Haener is progressing. It would be nice to think that a drafted QB showed some promise. Who was the last damn Saints drafted QB one could say that about?

Marc Bulger?

Or did you mean for the Saints? That would probably be the guy with the recognizable name we took in the 1st round a few years ago.

Yeah that the Saints drafted that just showed a little promise. We have been so bad I couldn't remember anyone but Archie of course

No one who knows anything about football would say that 46 yards is a "chip shot FG."

In college. Not the nfl. The average is 74%. Grupe was below average all season. 81% average verses the league average of 84%. That's the difference between a game or two.

It absolutely is for the good to great fg kickers in the league. Unless you want to bullshite to me that Grupe is good you don't know shite about NFL football.

I had to search the team's draft history to remember Bulger; mainly because he never played for the team. Since Archie in 1971, they drafted 17 QBs, the only ones that played in more than 1 game in the NFL was JT O-Sullivan (2002), Bulger (2000), Wuerffel (1997), Nussmeier (1994), Mike Buck (1990), Cipa (1974)

And O'Sullivan & Bulger's stats were with other teams

You are a bonafide football idiot. No one with a football IQ over 50 refers to a 46 yard FG, not to mention an outdoors one, as a chip shot. That is reserved for short FGs, which 46 yards is definitely considered not.

fourvertsfootball.com

Why Is It Called A Chip Shot?

The reason that a short field goal was given the name chip shot is because of its similarities of a golfing chip shot.

When a golfer puts his ball close but not onto the green he must then chip the golf ball. When chipping a golf ball the golfer will only swing his club roughly a quarter of the way through his backswing.

Since the distance to the green is so short the player does not need to utilize a full swing. Additionally, the flight of chips is often a short high arching shot.

There are even golf clubs called “chippers” the create a short high flying shot with only a light swing of the club.

This is almost identical to the situation field goal kickers find themselves in on short field goals. They are not quite in the endzone so only a small amount of yardage is required.
Yet they still need to raise the ball above the defenders in order for it not to be blocked. To do this the kicker will hit a short but high arching kick through the uprights.

How Short Is A Chip Shot Field Goal?

Though there is no set distance on how long a chip shot field is it is safe to say it must be roughly twenty-five yards or less.

I joked about signing him before. Now, it’s reality. This guy has been garbage in the league.
