My 53 projection

Let me know what y’all think.
QB (3): Carr, Winston, Haener
I think we should end the Jameis experiment but DA won’t.
RB (3): Williams, Miller, Merriweather (Kamara suspended)
I really wanted to keep Darrel Williams but they go with the rookie Merriweather.
FB (1): Prentiss
Obviously.
Joker (1): Taysom
Also obvious.
WR (6): Thomas, Olave, Shaheed, Perry, Kirkwood, Kirklin
Tre’Quan needs to be gone but he starts the year on IR. Hopefully Shaq Davis clears waivers. I kept Kirklin for returner ability with Shaheed’s health iffy. Kirkwood was solid all spring. This was the toughest position to call. Good problem to have.
TE (3): Johnson, Moreau, Graham
Hopefully Krull passes waivers and goes to the PS but I doubt it.
OT (4): Penning, Ramcyzk, Young, Kidd
I think they look to upgrade the backups. Young may start on IR.
OG/C (5): McCoy, Hurst, Ruiz, Saldivieri, Throckmorton
I know Peat almost surely makes the team but I refuse to add that pussy.
DE (5): Jordan, Granderson, Kpassagnon, Turner, Foskey
Another obvious.
DT (4): Saunders, Shepard, Breese, Roach
Same as DE. Roach really had a good camp.
LB (5): Davis, Werner, Smith, Sewell, Orji
Honestly Jackson or Orji could swap. The other to the PS. I can see this being a spot where they bring someone in after cut downs. Connelly goes to IR but would have easily made the team. The Baun era ends tomorrow.
CB (4): Lattimore, Adebo, Taylor, Roby
Yiadom came close but hopefully he clears waivers for the PS.
S (6): Mathieu, Maye, JT Gray, Howden, Johnson Jr, Umadi
Talented group, maybe deepest position on the team. Smoke Monday to the PS
P (1): Gilikin
Pretty easy call.
LS (1): Wood
Easiest call on the team.
K (2): Lutz, Grupe
This is my surprise pick. Teams rarely ever hold 2 kickers. I say we do at least initially to see how Lutz kicks to start the year and also to hold the other as trade bait. Good kickers are highly sought after and hard to come by. Someone will make an offer on one player if we keep them. Obviously only one is active on Sunday.

Not a bad list, but Peat and only 1 kicker will be on the team
We’ll keep another CB
We’ll keep another CB

I agree on all points but I hope this is the outcome even though it won’t happen. No way they let Peat go unfortunately.

We will not keep 2 kickers. They will release or trade Grupe or Lutz. I like Haener but with Taysom on the team and Haener not doing so well last night. I think they try to squeeze him on PS. The OL depth seriously worries me.
Posted on 8/28/23 at 3:26 pm to Pels_Yaz
No chance they put Haener through waivers, he would never clear. He had no chance with that OL he had though.

Good job.
Doubt two kickers
I'll add JW to your just no peat list

I think he might clear waivers. I like him but Saints fans in all honesty are lot higher on him than most teams who are pretty set on their qbs entering the season.

My guess is:
Peat stays ---> Kidd goes
Yiadom stays ---> Lutz goes
Baun stays ---> Orji to practice squad

You’re probably right on all counts. I really wanted to keep Yiadom. I just think Baun and the Saints need to part ways. It’s not going to work. He needs to be in a 3-4 as an OLB.
Posted on 8/28/23 at 3:40 pm to LSUPilot07
Bro Baun did not even play last night. He was specifically rested on purpose with a lot of other guys. Hes pretty much on the roster.
Posted on 8/28/23 at 3:42 pm to LSUPilot07
I was gonna make the same observation the poster before me did. Baun was rested last night and they value him highly on special teams.

No way we let Yiadom go to waivers.
Posted on 8/28/23 at 3:50 pm to Geauxldninja
Am i missing something? Was this guy that good in camp or preseason. I thought Amadi was the guy who easily shined more.
Posted on 8/28/23 at 4:13 pm to Pels_Yaz
Umadi and Yiadom both deserve spots. I guess if I had to go back I would drop Lonnie Johnson Jr or Jameis for Yiadom.
Posted on 8/28/23 at 4:16 pm to LSUPilot07
I didn’t think Jameis performed that well but Haener wasn’t impressive either in games. I think we have to keep Jameis because hes a solid backup if anything happens to Carr. I do think Haener is not ready at all to be number two. I also think Yiadom would clear waivers personally.

Haener would easily get picked up on waivers. It's just how it is for the qb position. You better believe their is a gm out there that loved haener in the draft and will pick him up for nothing.
Posted on 8/28/23 at 4:30 pm to Chalkywhite84
I guess my question is does this board see Haener as a future number one qb? Or just a solid number two as his peak? Yes oline play has been bad in preseason and he’s playing with 3rd stringers but guys like O’Connell, Clifford and Thompson-Robinson have dealt with same issues and looked much better. Again I like Haener but it logically makes no sense to keep technically 4 qbs ( including Taysom) on the roster and sacrifice depth elsewhere. Some teams don’t even keep 3 QBs.

Much like Saldiveri, we picked Haener up right before there was a run on those positions and there were many accounts saying several teams were prepared to take Haener. We just jumped the gun a round because Loomis saw something he liked. Honestly I agree with him. He’s got work to do in order to improve but he showed some really good traits. He’s clearly got a good command of the huddle and he has a moxie about him. He’s also got sone pretty nice wheels when he wants to run.
